SAS Gold Lounge – Stockholm Arlanda T5: true to itself

I voluntarily arrived early at the airport this morning to do some lounge hopping before flying to Bangkok then Sydney. At the beginning I had planned to start with the Norrsken Lounge, a priority pass that I don’t know yet but the queue at the time of my arrival dissuades me and I join the SAS Gold lounge next door.

This is a lounge that I’ve already presented in detail during my first visit here and that I’ve mentioned in different reviews so we’ll keep it short. If you want to see more pictures, please refer to my previous article.

Moreover you will find all the articles related to this trip at the bottom of the page.

Location of the lounge

It is located in the middle of Terminal 5, on the second floor, so it is almost equidistant from all doors. Anyway, considering the size of Arlanda, it’s not a big deal.

Access to the lounge

It is available to Gold and above members of the SAS Eurobonus frequent flyer program as well as to all Star Alliance Gold status holders of the alliance’s member airlines.

Passengers travelling in business class but without specific status have a separate lounge right next to it.

Traveling in business class on Thai I am eligible for the Business lounge but my Diamond status on Eurobonus gives me access to this one too.

Lounge design and layout

The lounge is composed of four main areas.

A lounging area with armchairs and coffee tables.

Tables more suitable for those who want to work.

A quiet area with sleepers and even closed cabins.

Finally a space more dedicated to dining, located around the buffet.

Like all SAS lounges, it is in the purest Scandinavian style, which I really appreciate: wood, soft and pleasant tones, a sober and pure design…

The only reproach I can make is that it is sometimes quickly full at rush hour.

Catering

This is in my opinion the weak point of this lounge as of all the SAS lounges and it is the reason of my passage this day because I do not despair that one day it surprises me in a good way.

The buffet is however quite large.

On the cold side you will find salads

On the hot side, a lobster soup and a carrot soup.

As far as drinks are concerned, there are the traditional softs and beers, strong spirits, white wine, rosé, Cava… but no red wine.

I will eat quickly before going elsewhere to see if the grass is greener. The salads will be decent, the lobster soup delicious, and that’s it.

Lounge facilities

The lounge offers toilets and showers, neither of which I used.

Bottom line

A very nice lounge, pleasant, but still lacking in its food offering.

So I’m off to the American Express Lounge…
