It is the beginning of a long journey back to France from Sydney. Arriving early at the airport and the check-in procedures and the various controls having passed in a fluid way I have largely time to make the tour of the lounges of the Airport.
Let’s start with the Air New Zealand lounge at Sydney airport.
You will find at the bottom of the page the list of all the articles about this trip in Australia.
Location of the Air New Zealand lounge in Sydney
Knowing that when we passed the different controls you arrive about in the middle of the terminal 1, in the duty free zone, the lounge (as well as many others) is located at one end of the terminal.
It’s a good 10 minute walk to the lounge.
Then to reach your flight, it all depends on where your plane will be parked. It can be right next door and in my case I will have to cross the airport again in the other direction.
Who has access to the Air New Zealand lounge in Sydney?
The lounge is available to Air New Zealand Business Premier passengers, Air New Zealand Frequent Flyer Program Elite members, Star Alliance Business Class passengers and Star Alliance Gold status holders regardless of class of travel.
Lounge layout
The lounge is very large, spacious, airy and nicely decorated.
In front of the entrance there is a very nice bar.
There are multiple lounging areas.
Other places are made to sit down to eat or work.
There is a TV corner that is a bit isolated.
The whole thing is very pleasant. It is bright, the design is nice and modern.
Catering
The buffet is of good size.
The cold offer is of good quality with fruits, yoghurts, pastries and a rich selection of bread.
The hot offer includes beans in cassoulet, sausages, potato hash…
This may sound basic but it’s breakfast time.
There is also a cook who prepares pancakes on demand.
In short, a solid enough offer even if it lacks variety but I would like to see what it looks like outside of breakfast.
As far as drinks are concerned, there are the usual soft drinks, wine, a good selection of hard liquor, a nice variety of bottled beers and sparkling wine (it’s shaped like a bottle of champagne but not…). A hot beverage machine allows you to make coffee, chocolate and tea.
And let’s not forget the bar at the entrance which adds to that.
Facilities
The restrooms are spacious and clean and there are self-service showers.
Lounge atmosphere
Despite its size and activity this lounge is very pleasant. You have room, 80s pop/rock music in the background, I really liked it.
Bottom line
This Air New Zealand lounge is really lively and very pleasant.
Nice design, very decent food offer (to be reviewed at other times of the day), it may be big and full (New Zealand is just next door) but it was a very good experience.
