American Airlines Domestic First, Boston Logan – Miami International, Boeing 737 MAX 8: Pleasant but Nothing More

The first flight of this itinerary to Costa Rica, with an initial segment to Miami, freshly rebooked after the delay announced on my original flight.

Boarding

I arrived at the gate a few minutes before the scheduled start of boarding and found the priority lane filled with wheelchairs!

Everything was handled quickly nonetheless, and boarding for First Class passengers began promptly.

Cabin and welcome

The Domestic First cabin on this 737 MAX 8 is laid out in a 2-2 configuration with comfortable recliner seats, now no longer equipped with IFE, as is the case across American Airlines’ domestic fleet.

The welcome was charming and I quickly settled into my seat, 04B.

Pre-departure drink orders were taken on the ground, and the coffee with milk I ordered arrived while boarding was still underway.

Service and catering

The service began once the seatbelt sign was switched off. Orders were taken, and I chose the hot dish along with a Baileys coffee.

The tray was served around twenty minutes later.

No refill was offered.

Arrival and disembarkation

We arrived at the gate on time, and disembarkation took place in an orderly and calm manner.

Bottom line

A solid flight, but with service delivered without much enthusiasm.
