For the first segment of this itinerary to Costa Rica, I made a quick stop at the Admirals Club at Logan, my usual headquarters at Boston airport. But first, a bit of drama related to American’s chronic network delays.
Check-in and ground experience
I completed the online check-in process through the American Airlines app.
It is very well designed, and for international flights, passport verification is carried out by scanning the passport directly in the app.
I then retrieved my boarding passes in both Passbook and PDF format.
On the evening before my flight, I received a first notification advising me of a 30-minute delay, followed by a second one indicating a 1 hour and 30 minute delay, making my connection in Miami extremely tight, at less than 40 minutes.
I contacted American Airlines’ online assistance, which solved the issue in under five minutes by rebooking me onto the earlier flight.
I arrived at the airport 1 hour and 30 minutes before departure. TSA PreCheck was cleared in no time, and I then had to wait around ten minutes before the lounge opened.
Location and Welcome
The lounge is located near gate B4, and the welcome was courteous: I was admitted after a brief verification of my eligibility.
Design
The lounge design has not changed, with its usual camel, grey and red tones.
Food & Beverage Offering
The food offering is of good quality, with a hot selection that I skipped, though it originally included French toast.
Bottom line
Still a pleasant experience in this lounge, with very efficient pre-flight service.
