For our first evening in Buffalo, my wife found this restaurant located near our hotel.
Here’s a look back at a pleasant experience, even if the food could have been better.
The concept
The concept is that of a gourmet brasserie inspired by European, even Italian, cuisine.
The setting
The setting remains fairly basic, but some effort has gone into the decor, which is rather white/Mediterranean.
The menu
The menu is clearly Italian-inspired, with a bistronomic touch.
The meal and the dishes
To start the meal, I’ll begin with a vodka-based cocktail aptly named The Oliver. It will be quite good, but a little acidic and I’ll have trouble finishing.
Next, a basket of excellent ciabatta bread is brought in.
I’ll order a dish of gnocchi with ricotta and tomato sauce, which will be very good, but my wife will have a Milanese pork chop, which will be far too thick to be good.
The truffle fries will be good, but not excellent.
The service
The service will be good and very attentive.
The atmosphere
The atmosphere is a little cold, and the decor doesn’t help.
Bottom line
A decent meal for a Sunday evening in Upstate New York. For other evenings, we’d prefer to take advantage of the hotel restaurant.
