British Airways Club Europe (operated by Iberia), Barcelona El Prat – London Heathrow, Airbus A320: Solid service but lack of warmth

As we leave the lounge at the theoretical boarding time, the boarding is about to start when we arrive at the gate.

Today’s itinerary

Boarding

The boarding is well organized with a line for group 1, and another for groups 2/3. Other groups are invited to remain seated.

My wife and I can therefore board among the first passengers, even if today we won’t need it since we don’t have any hand luggage.

Cabin and welcome

The flight being operated by Iberia, it is a Spanish crew that welcomes us and the traditional Iberia cabin in 3-3 with grey leather seats.

The pitch is improved in the first few rows of the cabin, including row 5 where I am sitting.

The welcome is quite warm and I settle in quickly.

Service and catering

After takeoff, the service begins a good twenty minutes after the seatbelt sign has been turned off.

It is the British Airways Club Europe protocol that is executed, despite the fact that the flight is operated under wet lease by an Iberia aircraft and crew.

The aperitif service is done first, and I will take a glass of champagne and a glass of sparkling water. No proposal of ice and lemon.

The meal tray was then served. A choice between lamb and pasta is proposed, I will take the lamb. The bread is served, it is not hot but will be good.

The quinoa and bell pepper salad will be edible.

The lamb will be served minced with potatoes, and will be eatable as well.

The mango panna cotta will be refreshing.

The champagne was very good, served very cold.

Refills will be offered until the end of the flight.

The chief purser will come and ask me what I thought of the flight, and if I need anything. I will ask for a Diet Coke for my wife sitting in Euro Traveller.

Arrival and disembarkation

We arrived at the parking lot on time, but were parked off concourse C. So we will go by bus to concourse A, where immigration will be deserted, and the luggage will be delivered quickly, less than 5 minutes after our arrival at the mat.

Bottom line

An uneventful flight, with a BA service, just strangely done in a plane and with an Iberia crew.
