New Orleans Creole Cookery: an excellent Creole experience

New Orleans Creole Cookery offers high-quality Creole cuisine in a pleasant setting with, in addition, excellent service.

Like the day before, it was my turn to book the restaurant for the evening. After a cozy but very noisy Creole and a very good and lively Cajun, tonight I chose to repeat the Creole experience in a slightly more pleasant setting than the previous one.

At the bottom of the page you will find the summary of the articles about this trip to Boston, New York and New Orleans.

The concept

This is a restaurant serving Creole cuisine. For more information on the difference between Creole and Cajun cuisine, I refer you to this post, but let’s just say that Creole cuisine is more urban and refined, influenced by European cuisine (French, Spanish), with rich sauces and frequent use of tomatoes.

The setting

The restaurant has several large rooms with the usual exposed brick walls. There is also a beautiful inner courtyard that is certainly very pleasant, but the changeable weather will encourage us to eat inside, as advised by the staff.

The tables are well spaced and the room is not noisy. A happy medium between the previous two restaurants.

The menu

The dinner

We arrived in the early evening and ordered straight away, as my friends had a work commitment in the middle of the evening.

Delighted by our experience the day before, we start by sharing some alligator bites.

IMG_8852

Tender and well spiced to get you going.

For my starter, I had the Napoleon Crab Cake with dill beurre blanc sauce.

IMG_8854

Very filling but light and delicate, despite appearances, with a delicious seasoning.

Then I had the Creole pasta: chicken, shrimp and sausage stew.

IMG_8856

A very tasty dish with a spicy side that becomes more and more present as you eat. On the other hand, it was more than generous, I struggled to finish it.

For a small appetite, this dish alone would have been enough.

Nothing to say: tasty and very (too?) hearty dishes that will make you love Creole cuisine.

The atmosphere

Lively but not noisy, pleasant and friendly.

The staff

Friendly, efficient and cheerful staff.

Bottom line

A very pleasant experience that delights the palate but requires a digestive stroll.
