The Courtyard at Roissy CDG has established itself as an excellent value for money hotel, especially when prices start to soar around the airport during the vacation season.
For this trip, my choice was quickly made: between the Moxy next door, which always disappoints me a little more, and the other hotels in the airport area whose prices soared with the approach of the Olympics, this Courtyard, which I’m starting to know well, was the obvious choice.
At the bottom of the page you’ll find the list of the articles about this trip to Boston, New York and New Orleans.
Booking
Several months before my stay, I booked a deluxe room at 174 euros per night. A bit expensive for this hotel, but we’re 2 weeks away from the opening of the Olympic Games, and to give you an idea, the Sheraton was 500 euros and the Marriott, much less well placed, was 350.
Location of the hotel
The hotel is located in the hotel zone between T1 and T2, which suits me perfectly as I’m leaving from T1. It’s just a few minutes’ walk from the CDGVal “Parking Px” station, which means you can get to both T1 and T2 very quickly.
It’s not far from the Moxy, about which we’ve already written numerous reviews.
Arrival at the hotel and check-in
I arrive by Uber in the late afternoon and immediately go to reception.
The welcome was pleasant, but there was no recognition of the loyalty program. At the end, they simply slip me a “by the way, you’ve been upgraded”.
In fact, since the hotel has only one type of room, upgrading means a room on the upper floors.
The room
It’s exactly the same as the one I’ve already shown you here.
Beautiful, warm and good-sized.
Bedding is normally comfortable, in keeping with the mid-range hotel category.
The bathroom, equipped with a shower, is functional and a good size.
As for the view from the top floor, you’ll need binoculars to enjoy the view of the planes taxiing on the tarmac.
Bar and restaurant
The hotel has a bar, which I won’t be taking advantage of this time.
Right next door there’s a big, pretty restaurant.
I’m quickly seated.
The menu is fairly classic for an airport hotel, but varied.
For starters I’ll have the Grilled Octopus, Pak Choi cabbage, sweet sola sauce.
Not really copious but very good.
Then it’s on to pan-fried prawns, venereed rice risotto and a disc of shellfish.
Both very good and hearty.
I’ll finish with the pistachio creme brulée.
It will then take me longer to get the bill than it did to eat.
In any case, a very good restaurant with dishes that are as good as they are well presented.
Facilities
The hotel has a gym, neither large nor very well equipped, which I won’t be using this time.
Staff and service
Very good at the restaurant (even if the bill took a while to arrive) and for once a little colder and less friendly at reception.
Check-out
I’ll check out on the mobile app and leave the hotel without having to go through reception again.
Bottom line
A solid experience for this category of hotel, though perhaps a little less welcoming than usual.
