American Airlines Admirals Club, Philadelphia B/C: A great club in its own right

After two short but intense days in Philadelphia, it’s time to head back to Boston.

Check-in and ground experience

Before proceeding with check-in formalities, I’ll use the Same Day Confirmed features, which will allow me to modify my flight so that I can return earlier. This will work perfectly, and I’ll then check in for my flight from my mobile. I pick up my Passbook and PDF boarding pass.

On the day of departure, I’ll take the SEPTA commuter train to the airport, which is very fast but too infrequent.

I’ll get off at the airport’s Terminal C station, which will be a mistake since the only security point will be a TSA PreCheck point, and will have to walk to Terminal B.

The security checkpoint will be passed in about fifteen minutes, with exceptionally friendly TSA staff.

Location and welcome

I’ll reach the lounge straddling concourses B and C just in time for my teleconference.

I’ll be warmly welcomed and invited to enter after checking my eligibility.

Lounge design

The lounge has definitely been left in its original state, the space being a rebranded former US Airways Chairman Club lounge. The decor and furnishings are therefore a little dated, nothing to do with the new Admirals Club.

Catering

The improved American Airlines catering offer is in place, with the classic pastries and breads, augmented by a range of high-quality fresh fruit and smoked salmon.

Espresso machines are in place, and I’ll take the opportunity to have a few double espressos.

Bottom line

A pleasant wait and a quality restaurant offering.
