W Philadelphia: Excellent experience

Let’s go for a first night in Philadelphia as part of this business trip.

Booking

I proceeded to the reservation in this property a few days before my arrival. The Marriott offer is rather large in Philadelphia, and the reviews described the establishment as modern and rather well maintained.

I booked a night at this establishment for just under $200.

Immediately after booking, I wanted to use one of my Night Upgrade Awards (replacing the SNA since January 2024) to secure an upgrade to one of the hotel’s WOW Suites. Unfortunately, the upgrade could not be confirmed, but the hotel nevertheless upgraded me to one of the Fantastic Suites the day before my arrival.

Arrival

I check-in online 48 hours before my arrival, requesting a mobile key and late check-out.

I arrive via the SEPTA commuter train from Philadelphia airport in the late afternoon.

I’m warmly greeted by the receptionist, who confirms my reservation, thanks me for my loyalty and for using mobile check-in, and gives me a copy of the room keys.

He tells me, however, that the restaurant will be closed for the evening, but that a reduced menu is available at the bar, and that breakfast will be served as room service the following morning and not in the restaurant.

I’m soon on my way to my suite.

Suite

My suite was located on the 42nd floor, at the very end of the corridor.

A door separates the two suites located opposite each other, and I can access mine located to the left of this hallway.

The door leads directly into an entrance hall, which has a walk-in closet on the left, and a shower room on the right.

Next is theliving area, decorated to W standards and opening onto a superb bay window offering a majestic view of the city skyline.

Next to the bay window is a trendy swing seat, as well as a buffet including minibar and TV. A welcome service with a handwritten card was also laid out for me. The minibar is well-stocked and a Nespresso machine with capsules is available to guests.

The second room is the sleeping area, with a large bathroom totally open to the bedroom, featuring a separate toilet, a bathtub, a double washbasin and a large shower. Toiletries are supplied by MOMO/ in reusable containers.

Finally, the bathroom is separated from the sleeping area by a large desk, which I’ll be happy to use on the morning of my departure, followed by a king-size bed, comfortable as usual at W, and again facing a large bay window lined with an armchair.

There’s plenty of storage space for a good week’s sleep.

To finish, a video tour:

Hotel facilities

The hotel is equipped with a fitness room and an outdoor swimming pool, both located on the 9th floor. A spa is also available to guests, but I won’t have time to take advantage of it this time.

Gym

I’ll be using the fitness room on the morning of my stay before starting my day. It’s divided into two sections, and I’ll be the only guest using it during my stay.

It’s very pleasant and the machines are new.

A water fountain and towels are available.

Swimming pool – WET Deck

I’ll be using the pool on the evening of my arrival.

And I must say that finding it with a few young women is pleasant. I’ll do a few lengths and then have a little cocktail in the hot tub area, very pleasant as I watch the sun go down.

The water temperature was very pleasant.

Catering

As previously mentioned, the hotel’s main restaurant, Dolce, adjacent to reception, was closed on the evening of my stay. Nevertheless, I was able to try the snacks offered at the bar and the room-service breakfast.

Dinner service – Living Room

After a relaxing moment at the pool, I had a drink with a light snack at the hotel bar.

My cocktail was excellent, and I accompanied it with a decent pizza.

IMG_3993

The atmosphere is friendly and I’ll have a good time with a group of colleagues who’ve come to spend an evening at the W’s bar.

Breakfast service – Room Service

On the morning of my departure, I’ll order my breakfast from room service. The menu is very pleasant.

I’ll order a ham and cheese omelette, with smoked salmon on the side, and everything will be excellent, and very generous. I won’t be able to finish it all.

Service

The service in this hotel will be very good, above the American average.

Departure

I will leave the hotel shortly after 4pm and use the mobile check-out facilities before leaving the room. Very simple even if I would have to claim the bill by e-mail.

Bottom line

An excellent stay that I will gladly repeat.
