Today’s itinerary

Check-in and ground experience

I checked in for my flights to Paris Charles-de-Gaulle 24 hours before the departure of my first flight. Since my first flight was operated by United Airlines, I had to use their website and app to check in for my entire itinerary. This was done quickly, I just had to scan my passport and all my boarding passes for Paris were handed over to me online.

After this process, SAS boarding passes were also available in the Scandinavian airline’s application.

On the day of departure, I left home about 2 hours before the departure of my flight to Washington. As usual, I used the Silver Line of the Boston transportation system.

I arrived at the airport after a few minutes’ drive, and once I arrived in Terminal B of Boston Logan Airport, I went to the United check-in area to collect my boarding passes.

I waited about fifteen minutes before being able to go through security and into the boarding lounge.

Location and welcome

The United Club in Terminal B is located roughly in the middle of the Concourse, towards the gates from which United flights depart.

The welcome was very cold, and was invited to scan my boarding pass on one of the machines used to check lounge eligibility.

Lounge design

The design of the lounge is fairly uninspired, but you can see that furniture was refreshed a few years ago. Still, it’s big enough to cope with peak traffic on Monday mornings and Thursday evenings.

Catering

The catering offer is poor, although an effort has been made to provide cold sandwiches. The free bar offer was very limited, and many drinks were not included.

For example, Bailey’s had to be bought as an extra, for $10 – unacceptable!

I settled for a classic whisky.

Bottom line

Not an unpleasant stay, but not suitable for more than an hour.

United Club, Boston Logan : Pas désagréable mais pas fantastique non plus

Correct

Un séjour pas désagréable, mais pas pour plus d’une heure.
