American Airlines Flagship Lounge, Chicago O’Hare: Good, but Very Crowded

After a first flight from my home base in Boston, I had to connect in Chicago before my next flight to Minneapolis.

Connections

As my inbound flight arrived at Concourse L, and even though my next flight was also departing from that same concourse, I still had to make my way over to Concourses H and K, where the Flagship Lounge I had access to is located. The walk is fairly long and narrow, and took me around ten minutes at a brisk pace.

Location and Welcome

As mentioned above, the lounge is located between Concourses H and K in Terminal 3 at O’Hare, and the signage is comprehensive from the TSA checkpoint onward.

The lounge is co-located with one of American’s Admirals Clubs at the hub.

The welcome was charming, and I was handed my Flagship Lounge access card. I then headed up to the second floor, which is reserved for this more exclusive lounge.

Design

The design of the lounge has not changed since my last visit, with numerous lounging areas available throughout, and even when the lounge is busy, the space remains substantial.

A dining area is also available near the buffets.

Food & Beverage Offering

The food offering, while still of good quality, has declined since my last visit, with the hot dishes less well executed and the cold selection of a lower standard.

The beverage selection, however, was excellent and very diverse, including champagne, for example.

Bottom line

An enjoyable experience overall, though the food offering has slightly declined and the design remains… very American.
