Hard to find a good restaurant for lunch in New York? Not counting the flair of the friend I joined in the Big Apple, who knows restaurants like the back of his hand: so it was at the last minute that we booked at Nougatine, the brasserie concept of Jean-Georges, the famous New York chef.
As a reminder, here is the itinerary followed:
The concept
The concept is quite simple: a bistronomic menu, with simple dishes and a gastronomic twist.
The setting
The setting is very elegant, in light tones, with a beautiful outdoor terrace and a bar where my friend and I could sit.
The menu
The menu is very simple and fairly short, but more than enough for lunch.
The meal and the dishes
We had lunch with a glass of sparkling water. I had the filet of sole, with fries on the side: a strange combination, but I really wanted fried! It was excellent.
The service
The service was simply perfect, even though we were at the bar: the bartenders were extremely attentive.
Dishes were served very quickly, as was the request for the bill.
The atmosphere
The atmosphere was relaxed, not at all stuffy.
Bottom line
An excellent experience, with relatively reasonable prices for New York. Especially in view of recent inflation…
