Before my flight to New York, I stop by the Admirals Club lounge at the Boston hub. Here’s a look back at this pre-flight experience.
Check-in and ground experience
I check in online 24 hours before the departure of my flight to New-York.
I download the Passbook and PDF boarding passes from the American Airlines website.
On the day of departure, I leave my home about 3 hours before the flight’s departure.
As usual, I’ll use the MBTA Silver Line to get to the airport, in less than 15 minutes (due to reduced frequency outside rush hours).
No change at Logan, American still uses Terminal B.
No need to go through the check-in counter this time, I go straight to the deserted security checkpoint and will be airside in about 30 seconds.
Location
The lounge’s location hasn’t changed, and it’s still near gate B4, the gate from which my flight to JFK will depart.
The entrance is quite easy to spot, in the new American Airlines lounge colors.
Lounge design
The design of the lounge has obviously not changed since my last visit. It’s in the tones of the Admirals Club’s recent renovations, a mix of gray, red and camel. Elegant but already a little out of fashion.
Catering
This is the big news in Boston: the upgraded restaurant offer has finally arrived in Massachusetts.
For starters, there’s a big cheese upgrade with quality mozzarella instead of plastic cheese.
On the main course, two choices of hot dishes, both excellent.
And a big upgrade in desserts and snacks with macaroons, an excellent brownie and Boston pie.
Bottom line
An excellent step forward with this new restaurant offering in a lounge that remains pleasant.
