Salon Extime Roissy terminal 2D: finally a lounge worthy of the name

The new Extime lounge in terminal 2D at Paris CDG offers top-quality service and is a welcome replacement for the former Sheltair lounge.

Having arrived quite early before my flight, I was finally able to discover the Extime lounge in Roissy’s Terminal 2D. Extime? It’s the retail and hospitality brand created by Aéroports de Paris to bring together a whole range of airport services.

It replaces the aging Sheltair lounge, with its rather average catering, which nobody will regret.

You’ll find a summary of articles about this trip to Sicily at the bottom of the page.

Lounge location

It’s located upstairs, almost at the beginning of the terminal, just after the Duty Free area. It’s accessed by elevators located behind the Monoprix and, being used to the old lounge, I’d walked past it without seeing the elevator access.

Once upstairs, you have to walk along a corridor to find the lounge door.

If I wasn’t a fan of the Sheltair lounge, I have to give it credit for its location in the middle of the terminal.

In this case, we’re at the very beginning, so you can find yourself a long way from your boarding gate, with a long corridor upstairs and rather slow elevators.

But it had to be the only location available, and what’s more, this location allowed it to offer windows with a view of the outside world, which was not the case with the Sheltair.

Another advantage is that this lounge is also used by passengers on 2B, and is much closer to immigration control than the other, as 2B is the “non-Schengen” part of the two terminals that have been merged into one since 2021.

Access to the lounge

It is accessible to all passengers of airlines using the 2B and 2D lounges, which offer access to their customers traveling in premium class or have a certain status. This is not the case with SAS, at least not at the time of writing, as the airline refuses to pay for lounges in airports where it does not have its own, or where none of its partners does.

Lounge layout and design

Once you’ve passed the reception desk, you enter through the first medium-sized room.

Then a second, much larger room.

IMG_5376

It’s really very pretty, infinitely better than the old lounge.

IMG_5378

And a third room a little further on.

IMG_5379

It offers a view of the aircraft parked at the 2B.

IMG_5392

A really pleasant lounge with an apartment feel.

IMG_5395

It’s warm, well-decorated and a very pleasant place to wait for your flight.

IMG_5396

And, above all, a large lounge to accommodate passengers from both terminals.

Catering

The buffet is located in the middle room. At the time of my visit, it was the breakfast offer that was in place.

First of all, a range of cold meats and cheeses.

IMG_5387

Salads are also available.

IMG_5388

Of course pastries and bread.

IMG_5389

There’s fruit too.

IMG_5384

And crêpes!

IMG_5386

All this is complemented by a range of hot dishes.

Scrambled eggs and toast.

IMG_5381

Potato wafers and beans.

IMG_5382

And finally, sausages.

IMG_5383

As for beverages, in addition to the usual hot drinks, there’s a fridge stocked with soft drinks and bottled beer.

IMG_5385

And a selection of alcoholic beverages that’s not huge, but very decent, including champagne.

IMG_5380

All in all, a very hearty buffet, with quality products and excellent presentation. What’s more, the staff kept an eye on it and kept it constantly replenished.

Facilities

The lounge has toilet and shower facilities. Again, very pretty.

Atmosphere

Surprisingly quiet, even when the lounge was packed.

Bottom line

A really beautiful lounge for a lounge contact that has nothing to envy most airline lounges.
