Alaska Airlines Lounge, Seattle Tacoma C: Excellent domestic lounge

After a long day of meetings in Seattle, I was off to catch my flight back to Boston in Seattle.

Check-in and ground experience

I was dropped off in front of the entrance leading to the American Airlines counters, and made my way to the latter’s priority line to collect my paper boarding passes.

I noticed that dedicated lines for Amazon and Microsoft employees were available, a sign of the preponderance of these travelers at this airport.

Check-in was very pleasant, and without further wait I made my way to the priority security checkpoint just behind the American counters.

It took a good twenty minutes to pass through security before I could be airside.

Location and welcome

As American Airlines does not have a lounge in Seattle-Tacoma, Oneworld Emerald passengers can access the lounges of its partner Alaska AIrlines, if they are eligible.

It was my case, and I entered the lounge closest to the American AIrlines concourse, on the C-gate level.

When I arrived in front of the door and climbed the stairs leading to its entrance, I was faced with a queue of around ten passengers.

Clearly, the attendants at the front desk were not familiar with oneworld rules for non-Alaska or non-American Airlines passengers, and I had to wait for long minutes before they find the rule allowing me access to the lounge. Despite this wait, everything was done very courteously.

Lounge design

The design of the lounge is very elegant. Well above the average for domestic lounges.

In addition to the dining area with its tables and chairs, a bar was available, as well as numerous armchairs arranged in different ways, but always with power outlets and USB-C at each seat.

I love the little placards throughout the lounge reminding us of propriety, a sign of the times but always better than letting it be.

Catering

The food and beverages on offer were very decent, with hot and cold dishes, in short, a buffet that makes you hungry.

The dessert platter was equally tempting.

I made good use of the pancake machine and came back again.

Bottom line

An excellent lounge, and apparently not the best on the platform!
