Hotel 1000, LXR Hotels & Resorts, Seattle: an excellent experience

After two long flights from Boston to Seattle, I arrived at Hotel 1000 in the heart of Seattle in the early hours of the morning. Here’s a look back at an excellent stay.

Booking

I booked this stay about 2 weeks before my arrival, when I learned of my business trip to Washington State.

For this night, I used the American Express Fine Hotels and Resorts platform, to benefit from a guaranteed late check-out as well as to use my $200 annual credit, but also other benefits such as a guaranteed upgrade and a $100 F&B credit.

I pre-paid my reservation for just over $400 a night, all inclusive.

Arrival

The day before my arrival, I checked in using the Hilton Honors application. Hilton has recently started offering upgrades for a fee. However, whatever the type of room or suite, each proposal is marked “Confidential price”. Nevertheless, I chose the highest suite available, the Executive Suite, without knowing the price of the upgrade in advance… Come what may!

I arrived at the hotel by Uber shortly after midnight.

Despite my late arrival, I received a perfectly normal welcome, and after checking my identity, the check-in formalities were completed.

My upgrade to an Executive Suite was confirmed (still no mention of the price), and I was given explanations of the hotel’s facilities and catering outlets.

My late check-out was also confirmed for 4pm, and I was escorted to the elevator leading to the rooms.

Suite

My suite was located on the 6th floor of the hotel. Strangely enough, the rooms on the highest floors with the best views are not suites.

The entrance opened onto a corridor that leaded to all the rooms in this suite.

Opposite is the bathroom, equipped with a modest-sized washbasin, a beautiful bathtub, a separate toilet and a large shower. The toiletries are by Le Labo, a brand I’m particularly fond of and which also equips the EDITION hotels, which are among my favorites.

To the left is the suite’s large living room, with a beautiful dining table on which a very elegant welcome gift has been placed, a large corner sofa and coffee table facing a TV set set on a sideboard containing the minibar and Nespresso machine.

I used this lounge to make a few calls before my business meetings.

To the right of the entrance was the sleeping area, cleverly installed with second lighting and no windows to maximize rest. It featured a rather small closet for such a large suite, a small desk and a very comfortable king-size bed.

Overall, the decor is very well done and the space very pleasant.

To finish, a video tour:

Hotel facilities

The hotel is equipped with a fitness room and a spa, both located in the basement. I did not use the spa this time.

Gym

The gym is located in the basement of the property, and is accessible by elevator directly from the rooms.

IMG_0132

It is blind and very small, which is enough given the limited number of rooms in the hotel.

IMG_0133

It is nevertheless appointed with modern equipment, and I took advantage of it to do an elliptical session.

IMG_0131

Catering

The hotel has a bar and a restaurant, both located on either side of the lobby. As I arrived too late for dinner or a drink, I took advantage of the restaurant the next day for both breakfast and lunch.

All Water – Breakfast

I had breakfast in the hotel restaurant, which was included in the Amex FHR rate.

I was seated promptly, and the waiter brought me the menu. I had a double espresso with a glass of water, then ordered blueberry pancakes.

IMG_0127

These were absolutely excellent and very hearty, too much for my small stomach. The bacon served as a side was excellent.

All served quickly.

All Water – Lunch

To use up my credit, I also had lunch at the hotel.

IMG_0115

I ordered a cocktail, which was difficult to serve as no one really knew how to make it, even though it was on the menu. It arrived at the same time as my food order, so no problem, and it was very good.

At the same time, I nibbled on a dozen oysters, which were excellent, as well as a portion of French fries, also excellent.

Service

The service in this hotel was excellent, efficient and courteous without being obsequious.

Departure

Check-out formalities were straightforward, and carried out promptly and with a smile.

Bottom line

An excellent stay from every point of view: a pleasant room, perfect food and excellent service.
