Madrid-Paris Orly on Iberia in business class: very good service

After a pleasantly surprising flight from Barcelona to Madrid, I am ready to board the last flight of this trip. This is an opportunity to confirm the superiority of the Iberia service over Air France on routes between Madrid and Paris.

As a reminder, the routing of this trip :

Boarding

Due to the delay of my flight from Barcelona I don’t have time to stop at the Iberia lounge even though it was on the way to my boarding gate located at the other end of the terminal.

I arrive a few minutes before the beginning of the boarding. There are only two of us in the priority queue.

The fuselage is nicely decorated in honor of Cantabria, which was also honored in the lounge from a gastronomic point of view during the outbound flight.

We board on time.

The cabin

No surprise, this is the standard cabin found on the medium-haul flights of Iberia and its sister airline British Airways.

Very nice but seat a little bit hard for my taste.

Being in row 1 the legroom is good but not exceptional. And I can’t put my legs under the front seat.

Not much to add, we will leave on time.

We will be 8 passengers on 3 rows of business class.

The flight and the service

Shortly after takeoff, the flight attendant comes to take our orders. We have the choice between pasta and paella, I will take pasta. It is not my intention to freely criticize the competition, but once again we have the proof that it is possible on a flight of 2 hours or less to propose hot dishes but, even better, a choice of hot dishes!

And this is the tray that will be brought to me.

The appetizer, tuna and mixed vegetables, is correct.

The pasta is in factravioli with a meat shred.

It’s beautiful, it’s good and it’s copious! And, without surprise, it’s signed Do&Co which shows once again its expertise in the air catering.

The chocolate mousse served for dessert is light.

A very pleasant meal.

I will spend the rest of the flight dozing…we have space, it’s relaxing.

Landing and arrival at Orly

Soft landing and a few minutes later we are at our parking spot. We land quite quickly and I am amused to see the faces of Spanish passengers when French people remove their masks when leaving the aircraft:indeed, it was no longer mandatory to wear them in the terminal in France for several weeks, while Spain had maintained many of the measures abandoned in France.

The Crew

Nice and efficient.

Bottom line

An uneventful flight that only confirms to me that to have a correct service on a medium-haul business class we have no other choice than to turn away from Air Francewhose service is far too cheap outside the rare destinations where it still offers hot meals.

Too bad the seat is a bit hard…
