American Airlines Domestic First, Chicago O’Hare – Charlotte, Boeing 737-800 : Basic

As I leave the Flagship lounge about 10 minutes before boarding, I get a notification on my way that my flight to Charlotte has begun boarding. Perfect!

Today’s itinerary

Boarding

Boarding begins 35 minutes before departure time, ahead of schedule. When I arrive, all the First class passengers have already boarded and group 1 begins its boarding.

I go directly to the jetway.

Cabin and welcome

The cabin is new on American Airlines’ 737-800s, which have all been renovated.

In Domestic First, they are comfortable leather recliners, perfect for a 2h15 block flight.

After settling in, the flight attendant takes the order for the welcome drinks. I’ll choose a coffee, but since it’s not ready, I’ll fall back on plain water.

Service and catering

The service starts about 15 minutes after the light seatbelt sign is turned off.

Drink orders are taken and I will have a coffee with Bailey’s which I particularly like.

A basket of junk food (not so junk) is brought in and I’ll have a seedless granola…

The flight attendant will offer me a refill of Bailey’s coffee which I will gladly take.

Arrival and disembarkation

The arrival is very very slow because of the bad weather at the airport. We will arrive at the gate on time and I will be quickly on my way to the lounge.

Bottom line

A solid flight, but with a very basic service.
