Kimpton Gray Chicago: Superb property

Fresh off my flight from London Heathrow and after meeting my driver, I arrive in just under an hour in the Loop, the business district of Chicago.

Today’s itinerary

Booking

I proceeded to book this property about 3 weeks before my arrival for one night. The hotel is very recent, and results from a beautiful rehabilitation of office buildings, which augurs a beautiful stay.

I booked this hotel for about $280 a night including taxes.

Arrival

A few days before my arrival, I see an upgrade to a Junior Corner Suite, perfect!

When I arrived at the hotel, I went to the reception on the second floor of the property. I am taken care of almost immediately by the receptionist who will proceed with the check-in formalities.

Everything will be fast, efficient and very courteous. After verification of my identity and imprint of my credit card, my room card is given to me.

Suite

My Junior Suite was located on the 6th floor of the property, in one of the corners of the hotel.

It offers a superb view of the skyscrapers of the loop as well as the “L” line, the train that circulates in a loop in the city.

The entrance faces the bathroom, very spacious and elegantly decorated. The shower is large and contains a large tub.

The toiletries are of the Atelier Bloem brand and of excellent quality. The fragrance of the shower gel reminds me of the old Sheraton products.

The rest of the space has a lounge area on the left, a desk in front and a queen size bed on the right.

The decoration is very nice, the only faux pas is the hideous coffee table.

Hotel facilities

The hotel has a fitness room located on the same floor as the lobby, the second floor of the hotel. It is a nice size and has very modern facilities.

The hotel has several food and beverage properties within its walls.

I would only use the restaurant for breakfast. Like all Kimptons, the hotel offers a Wine Hour every evening between 5 and 6 pm in the lobby.

Breakfast service

Breakfast is served weekdays from 6:30 am to 10 am at the restaurant located on the first floor of the property.

The menu is pretty good and I could choose whatever I wanted as an IHG Diamond member at no charge.

Service

The service is good at this hotel, above my other American Kimpton experiences.

Departure

The departure formalities will be simple, but I will have to ask for the invoice by e-mail because it will not be sent to me post check-out.

Bottom line

An excellent stay in this Kimpton with a good level of service.
