American Airlines Admirals Club, Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson: Very dated decor, but charming staff and quality food

For my return trip to Boston, the first step was a quick stop at Atlanta’s Admirals Club.

Check-in and ground experience

As usual, I completed the check-in formalities through the American Airlines app and immediately retrieved both my Passbook and PDF boarding passes.

I left the hotel at 3:45 a.m. and it took around 20 minutes to reach the domestic terminal.

As I had no checked baggage, I headed straight to the TSA Pre security checkpoint on the Delta side. Unfortunately, the CLEAR lane was not available when I passed through, but that was of little consequence as I cleared security in a matter of seconds.

Location and Welcome

The lounge is located opposite gate T11 and logically close to the gates used by American in Atlanta.

I arrived shortly after the lounge opened, and the welcome was charming. After my eligibility was checked, I was invited inside.

Design

The lounge has definitely remained in its original state, and even though the armchairs have been replaced to better match the tones of the more modern clubs, the carpet and wood paneling reveal the age of this lounge.

The space on offer is relatively modest, but sufficient for an outstation lounge.

It is made up mostly of lounging areas, along with a few tables and chairs near the bar.

Food & Beverage Offering

As in all of the airline’s domestic lounges, a significant effort has been made in recent years to improve the food offering, and this is evident in the breakfast selection available this morning.

I opted for a toasted sesame bagel and a few slices of smoked salmon.

Bottom line

A very good lounge stay overall, and while the dated decor is regrettable, the rest quickly makes up for it.
