The Lounge in Gothenburg offers a basic but decent service in a relatively pleasant setting. It does the job in a basic way, but it’s enough for a short wait.
The final straight before heading back to Paris with, for once, a direct flight between Gothenburg and Paris, as this time I had decided to travel with Air France.
Those of you who follow us may be surprised to see a new lounge appearing at Sweden’s second city airport, but it’s nothing of the sort: it’s actually the former Vinga lounge, so we’ve changed the name and…that’s pretty much it.
You’ll find a summary of the articles about this trip to Australia at the bottom of the page.
Lounge location
It’s located right in the middle of the terminal, opposite the Duty Free exit, next to the SAS lounge. A very central positionbut the size of Landvetter airport means location isn’t a problem.
Eligibility
To put it simply, this is the lounge used by all non-Star Alliance airlines at Gothenburg when offering lounge access to their passengers. This is likely to change now that SAS has joined Skyteam.
This is also a Priority Pass lounge, accessible to holders of the card of the same name or for a fee, as well as to holders of a large number of other cards, as shown in the photo above.
Design and layout
To my recollection, absolutely nothing has changed since the lounge was renamed. It is very warm and decorated mainly with wood in a very Scandinavian spirit.
There are spaces that are more suitable for people who want to work.
Different zones with chairs and tables in different styles and arranged differently.
It’s a lovely, warm and inviting lounge, with large picture windows overlooking the tarmac, as long as the Swedish winter lets you see something.
Catering
Here too, not much has changed.
A drinks offer with draught beer, soft drinks and wines on tap!
A hot-drink machine.
All this is complemented by a range of cold meats, cheeses and salads.
The only change is that there is now a choice of two hot dishes. A good idea, but what’s on offer this day isn’t particularly exciting.
And this is the highly gourmet plate I’ll be preparing for myself.
A Scandinavian offer, i.e. very minimalist and does the bare minimum job. But it’s no better in the neighboring SAS, which to my recollection doesn’t offer a single hot dish. For once, a Contract lounge offers a service on a par with that of the airport’s dominant airline’s lounge.
Facilities
There are no showers or toilets in the lounge, so you’ll have to get out and walk a few yards.
Atmosphere
Relatively quiet during my visit.
Bottom line
A pretty lounge that does the job, as long as you don’t have to wait too long.
