While my wife just spent a few nights at the Intercontinental Barcelona, recently reopened after a previous life as a Crowne Plaza, we chose to stay at the Kimpton that opened just over a year ago in the Catalan capital.
As a reminder, here is the itinerary followed:
Booking
I made the reservation at this property a few weeks before our arrival. The prices for the European capitals, after the summer of 2022, are still crazy, and it is for a little more than 300 € a night that I will stay in this hotel with my wife.
Arrival
My wife having arrived at the hotel in the afternoon, she has already done the check-in formalities in the afternoon and I just have to quickly go to the reception to get my keys. Even at a late hour of the night, the welcome is excellent and I will be invited to drink a glass of champagne, which I will refuse.
Suite
1st Suite: City View Suite
This first suite is actually the second one, my wife having already made a switch before my arrival, not liking the first suite assigned.
The entrance leads to a first living room, which has a large leather sofa, an armchair as well as a full minibar and a Nespresso machine.
In the entrance, a small desk is adjacent to a small closet. Enough to settle down for a weekend but not more.
A toilet, separate from the bathroom, is also present in this entrance.
Next, the bedroom is small in size but the king size kit will be super comfortable.
Then comes the bathroom, with a large sink, a bathtub and a large shower.
The decoration is just perfect and reminds me of the Kimpton Maa-Lai in Bangkok.
A large balcony overlooks the city with a beautiful view.
Finally, here is the video tour:
2nd Suite: de Vivi Suite (Presidential)
A second suite? During the same stay? Yes, it’s possible… We loved our first suite, but there was a massive water leak in the hotel the day after we arrived. Also, the reception proposed to move us to the presidential suite of the hotel, called de Vivi’s Suite reference to the name of the hotel Vividora.
This suite was on the same floor as the previous one, on the 6th floor (where all the suites are located).
The entrance leads to a large desk on which another welcome service has been placed. A closet, slightly larger than the one located in the previous suite, is available in the entrance.
On the right is the king size bed and a lounge area.
On the left, the large bathroom opens onto the bedroom.
A large corner balcony completes the suite, which I let you discover in pictures.
Finally, the virtual tour:
Hotel facilities
The hotel is equipped with a small fitness room, located near the hotel’s main restaurant on the first floor.
We won’t use it, it’s very small anyway. Mais elle a le mérite d’exister.
There is also a small rooftop pool, but it too has the merit of existing.
Catering
The hotel has three dining outlets: a café/snack bar on the first floor of the hotel called GOT, a restaurant on the second floor serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, and a rooftop serving snacks by the pool.
Breakfast service – Feira
Breakfast is served in the Feira restaurant located on the first floor of the property. The reception is perfect, we are quickly installed. It is possible to order dishes a la carte, but we will focus on the excellent buffet. The service will be attentive and perfect.
Terraza de Vivi Bar
On the top floor of the property there is a rooftop bar, adjacent to the pool, which is a great place to have a drink before dinner.
Service
The service is just perfect. Very attentive, all the time. All the staff has a smile on their face, which is all too rare these days.
In short, really excellent!
Departure
The departure formalities will be very simple, done in a few seconds after our late check-out at 3pm. The reception will order a cab to the airport.
Bottom line
An excellent stay. We’ll be back!
