Continuation of my replacement itinerary for the summer vacations, with a Majorca-Seville combo. As a reminder, here’s the itinerary:
So I arrive from Paris still on Iberia and still in Business.
Ground experience and lounge
Our flight from Paris arrives just a few gates away from our flight to Palma de Mallorca.
Despite the short connection time, I decide to go to the Iberia Dali lounge to see what the situation is.
You have to “backtrack” a little towards the airport entrance to get to the lounge, which is located just after the Barajas security checkpoints.
But then… nothing, the lounge is still closed indefinitely. Incomprehensible for a hub lounge, given that many flights have resumed and that there is substantial Premium traffic (all the flights we will be taking will be full in Business class).
Anyway, we didn’t have much time, even though I had access to the Aena lounge with 3 guests thanks to Priority Pass, so we headed for the gate where boarding was about to begin.
Boarding
Here, line boarding is strict, and even Business passengers board last.
Cependant, l’efficacité des agents est incroyable, et l’A320 complet est embarqué en moins de 20 minutes… Nous sommes en vacances de toute manière, donc pas d’urgence à accéder à l’appareil.
We are therefore awaiting the call for Business passengers, which will take place last.
Cabin and welcome
The welcome at the door is friendly and we are given disinfectant wipes.
We take our seats in 1D and 1F, in intra-European Business configuration, i.e. with the middle seat blocked. The seat is the same as on the previous flight. It is also equipped with power sockets at every seat, in addition to USB sockets in the first 3 rows.
The device is equipped with a Wifi-accessible entertainment system, which I wouldn’t have used.
Service and catering
The aircraft is equipped with a Wifi-accessible entertainment system, which I wouldn’t have used.
The bar is comprehensive, but everything is served in disposable containers because of the COVID.
A snack will also be proposed.
The service will be proactive, the clearing constant, and refills offered.
Arrival and disembarkation
We arrive on time in Palma de Mallorca. Strangely enough, when you arrive on a domestic flight, no health questionnaire is required, even if you’re coming from an international flight… There’s a bit of a gap here!
We arrive at the baggage carousel, wait, wait, wait… And nothing. Our luggage hasn’t arrived, despite the fact that our connection in Madrid was long enough and on schedule.
The bags are already programmed for the next flight, and we spend a good 20 minutes filling in the Passenger Irregularity Report. Delivery is programmed for the following morning.
Shortly after 10pm, I receive a text message telling me that we have to pick up our luggage at the airport! Luckily we’re not too far away, we’ll be going the next morning and it will be very fast, but still… It’s not very Business Class!
Bottom line
A good flight, but it’s incredible that the luggage didn’t arrive even though the connection time was normal and there was no delay... We’ll see what happens on the return trip.
