Renfe AVE Turista Plus, Cordoba-Seville: old-fashioned!

Back from our day’s escapade in Cordoba. We had originally booked our return at 5pm, but with the city deserted in this post-COVID summer and the attractions accessible without waitingWe decided to change our ticket for an early afternoon return to Seville, and a Turista Plus class journey on an AVE arriving from Barcelona.

A look back at our itinerary:

A sunny day in Cordoba

Boarding

After a short wait and a drink at Cordoba station, we make our way to the platform fifteen minutes before departure. Surprisingly, the train is already at the platform, having arrived very early from Madrid.

The departure lounge is very pleasant

Cabin and welcome

We are greeted on the platform by the ticket inspector, who checks our ticket and therefore our eligibility to use the Turista Plus car.

The “duck” shape characteristic of earlier AVE models

During the COVID crisis, Renfe chose to suspend all catering services, so Preferente cabins were used in Turista Plus mode, i.e. second-class service in First-class cars.

The quadruplet and its leather seats are quite comfortable

The cabin, with its leather seats, is very comfortable. Power sockets are available at every seat.

Very vintage leather seats

Unlike the morning Avant train, this cabin is a little more vintage, but has a lot of charm.

The corridors are truly vintage

Service and catering

All services are suspended due to the COVID-19 crisis on Renfe for the time being.

Arrival and disembarkation

We arrive on time at the Santa Justa station in Seville. The train, however, is very long, and it will take us many minutes to get out of the station.

Bottom line

As in the morning, an efficient and comfortable ride.
