First flight of this itinerary with a short hop to New York JFK.
Boarding
I left the lounge about 5 minutes before the scheduled boarding time and was at the gate 2 minutes later.
I stopped by the counter to have a paper boarding pass printed, which was done with a smile. Boarding started exactly on time with Zone 1 passengers, of which I was part.
Cabin and welcome
The Domestic First cabin on Delta’s A220 is configured 2-2 with three rows of recliner seats that aren’t all that comfortable… After all, the Economy cabin is arranged in a 3-2 layout on these aircraft, so the width gain isn’t substantial.
The welcome was polite, with small water bottles placed at each seat.
A welcome drink was offered, and I opted for a Diet Coke, which was served promptly.
Service and catering
The service starts just after the seatbelt sign is turned off.
A snack basket was offered, and I chose Delta’s signature speculoos cookies.
For my drink, I went with a light Baileys coffee.
Arrival and disembarkation
We arrived at the gate 25 minutes ahead of schedule, and the gate agent gave us a charming welcome.
Bottom line
I had thought American Airlines had caught up with Delta, but it’s clear that Delta has also stepped up its game on domestic flights. Impressive.
