Sheraton Roissy CDG : a bit aged but we like it anyway

The Sheraton Paris Airport, more commonly known as Sheraton Roissy or Sheraton CDG is one of the hotels we frequent the most, for which we have a particular affection but which had never been the object of a complete review on this site. Lack now fixed.

The Sheraton Roissy: the best located hotel at CDG

Why do we love the Sheraton Roissy? Because in case of a very early flight, when sleeping at the airport to avoid waking up too early or to gain 1 or 2 hours of sleep is the most reasonable option, the Sheraton Roissy is undeniably the best placed hotel at Roissy, especially when leaving/arriving at Terminal 2.

Located above the TGV/RER station, it is in the terminal, which means that it is easily accessible without a cab or shuttle if you arrive at the airport by public transport and that it allows you to reach your terminal easily. Directly on foot without leaving the building if you leave from Terminal 2, by automatic shuttle if you leave from Terminal 1 or 3.

Access is normally through the airport hall, above the TGV station in Terminal 2. If you come by cab, the hotel has its own loading/unloading area.

Let’s go to the check-in counter. On the right there is a large bar which is very convenient even when you are not staying at the hotel. It’s better to sit there if you have a long wait than to hang out in the hallways or cram into the noisy and uncomfortable ones.

Having done my mobile check-in on the SPG application I just have to sign a paper and get my room key which is already ready. As usual, the Sheraton Roissy applies to the letter the protocol of the loyalty program: recognition of the customer and upgrade to the best room available at check-in. My standard room becomes a junior suite. As always in this hotel, no cheapness on upgrades, which is not always the case elsewhere.

I go to the elevator to go up to the floors.

One thing that is striking about this hotel is the soundproofing. As soon as you are on the floors you feel like you are in a cotton bubble, cut off from the world. Although the rooms overlook the runways, the silence is absolute and reaches a level never seen elsewhere.

The entrance of the suite leads to 3 rooms: the bedroom, the lounge and the bathroom.

First of all, the room.

It is rather sparsely furnished and the room is really starting to show its age. However, one sleeps very well here.

Then the lounge.

Equipped with a sofa, a day bed and a desk, it is spacious, airy and pleasant.

As for the room, the decoration starts to show its age…

It looks a bit like DIY. The proof is the central table which is composed of two independent tables cut with a saw to fit well together. An ingenious DIY but a DIY nonetheless.

A little gift from the management. Minimalist but nice.

The bathroom looks better than the rest. It has a separate shower and bathtub.

Capsules to clip into the shower to give an olfactory atmosphere when showering.

To finish the visit in video.

It’s a little worn and dated, to say the least. The hotel being almost always full, it is understandable that the date of an unavoidable renovation is constantly postponed but it will have to come.

This said the room remains very pleasant.

The fact that the bedroom and the lounge each have a desk will delight those staying together who need to do a little work during their stay.

A very good restaurant offer at the Sheraton Roissy

Let’s go to the Club lounge to have an aperitif.

The club is like the rooms: aged but nice.

The offer is not plethoric but sufficient for snacking and of good quality.

The Sheraton Roissy also has two restaurants: Les Saisons (classic) and Les Etoiles (a little more gastronomic). That day we will have dinner at the Etoiles.

As usual the dishes are very well done and presented.

However, we were disappointed that the delicious sweetbreads had left the menu since our last visit.

However, the service was very disappointing. A not very friendly waiter, a mistake on the wine order (and he didn’t appreciate it when we pointed it out to him), a slow service while there were only 3 tables occupied… and absences that made him unavailable when needed.

Fortunately we will not judge the Etoiles on this experience only. The service is generally very good, but twice in one year I have noticed an occasional drop in quality that is not acceptable at the price charged.

A minimalist fitness room

I will not go to the hotel spa but to the gym the next day. It is like the rest. Not great but it does the job.

.At least it is clean even if the space and the equipment are limited: we have seen worse but also much better.

Conclusion: the Sheraton Roissy needs a big makeover…but we like it like that

The Sheraton Roissy is really starting to show its age and a renovation would be necessary. Always well occupied it is therefore expensive: you will sometimes find standard rooms at 160 euros, more often around 210 so we can not say that the value for money is very good. This is a legacy of the fortunately bygone era when the Sheraton brand was neglected.

However, we like this Sheraton. For the atmosphere, for the location…. So we won’t be objective but we’ve warned you: however perfectible and expensive it may be, we will always have a preference for the Sheraton CDG.
