As we arrive in New-York in the early afternoon, we head by Uber, previously ordered, to our hotel.
As a reminder, here is the itinerary followed:
Booking
As I said in the introduction, I hesitated for a long time to know where to book for this long weekend. Some Marriott hotels have some promotional photos with breathtaking views, but how do you guarantee them? In addition, these hotels sometimes have mixed reviews… So I choose a safe bet: The New-York EDITION, a property that my wife and I loved.
The bill will nevertheless be high: close to $500 per night, all taxes included, for a room with a guaranteed view.
Arrival
Two days before my arrival, I go through the check-in process on the Marriott Bonvoy app. Everything is in order, including our late check-out at 3pm on the day of departure.
We arrive in the early afternoon at New-York JFK. Our Uber was waiting for us curbside at terminal 7, and we will arrive in Manhattan in less than 40 minutes, a performance!
We arrive at the check-in around 4pm. Our luggage is taken care of by the porter and we are invited to the reception. The receptionist proceeds with the check-in formalities, and the manager comes to welcome us. He takes a few minutes to chat with us and tell us that he has upgraded us to a beautiful Loft Suite.
EDITION being a younger spin-off of Ritz-Carlton, no breakfast benefit for Platinum and above, so it will be the points.
And here we are on our way to our suite located on the 15th floor of the property.
Room
Our suite was located on the 15th floor of the property.
The entrance is quite small, as well as the closets that will allow us to unpack our things.
The minibar on the other hand, is well supplied! We will take a candle for us so much we like the fragrance.
On the left after the entrance is the bathroom, with a large washbasin and the Le Labo products that we love so much.
On the right, separated by sandblasted glass, the toilets. And on the left, a very large shower and bathtub.
Then there is the main room of this suite that I would call Junior since the lounge is not separated from the bedroom.
Still, this room is extremely pleasant, I could work a few hours to finish a file, while my wife finishes her night.
The bed, let’s talk about it, is very comfortable. The jetlag will nevertheless hit me very hard.
For our arrival, I had ordered a bouquet of flowers, which arrived well, and the hotel had prepared a delicate attention of welcome, and to note, they had not forgotten my wife!
The big asset of this hotel and of this room, it is nevertheless the sight of which we benefited well during all our stay.
Finally, a video tour of the suite:
Hotel facilities
The hotel has a fitness room and a spa (only for massages), which we will not use during our stay.
Catering
The hotel has a bar, located in the lobby, and a restaurant, The Clocktower, located on the second floor and awarded a Michelin star.
The Clocktower – Breakfast Service
We will have breakfast each morning at the Clocktower. The restaurant will be almost deserted each morning, maybe because we went there early, but I knew the Americans were more early…
Still, the service is absolutely perfect, and the dishes, although simple, are quite successful.
We will vary the pleasures between eggs, pancakes and bagels.
Note that the whole thing is not cheap.
The Clocktower – Dinner Service
On our first dinner, in an attempt to minimize the fatigue in addition to the jetlag, we decided to have dinner at the hotel to celebrate my wife’s birthday. So I had booked at Clocktower via the Opentable app.
The menu is quite simple. I will take a Hachis Parmentier and my wife a burger. Both not really memorable. We’ll return, or not.
Departure
The departure formalities were very simple since I used the mobile check-out in the app.
I received the bill in the Uber that took us to the airport.
Bottom line
Once again a seamless stay. We’ll be back!
