It is in the middle of the night that I arrive at the hotel. I can’t wait toget into a nice warm bed.

Booking
I booked this property a few weeks before my arrival.
I decided to postpone and bring forward my flight to Doha instead of having a three-hour connection that would have required me to leave from Gatwick airport.
In Doha, I chose the JW Marriott which seemed to me to bean excellent value for money.
It is thus for a little more than 100€ the night that I will reserve in this property for one night, by specifying as of the reservation that I will arrive in the middle of the night i.e. little after 4h of the morning.
As a test, I decided to apply a Suite Night Awardto this reservation. Five days before my arrival, this Suite NightAward is accepted, so I will be in an executive suite for this stay.
There will be no additional upgrade in addition to the Suite Night Award: in parallel, a few days before my arrival,I decide to book a transfer from the airport with the hotel. This transfers booked, it cost me 40 € to go.
Arrival
After meeting my driver who was waiting for me at the Doha Hamad International arrivals, I reached the hotel in 40 minutes after a totally deserted journey.
Nobody to welcome me outside, but the driver helps me to take my suitcase out of the trunk. I go through a security check, have to show my Green Passwhich is still in force in Doha to enter properties open to the public, and head to the reception.
The check-in is very easy, and in less than five minutes, I am in my room. I am told that I have access to the lounge because of my Ambassador status at Marriott Bonvoy, and thatbreakfast will be served in the restaurant, not the lounge.
Room
My room was located on the 21st floor of the property.
The entrance leads to a lounge area, quite spacious, but ultimately quite unfurnished. We can see that the room is now worn out, that elements of decoration are missing, and the minibar is empty. For a JW Marriott property, this is still disappointing. A welcome gift was left for me on the coffee table, always appreciated.
The main room includes a large lounge area, with large and comfortable sofas, as well as a desk located near the window. The desk’s power outlets are hard to reach, and I’ll have a hard time plugging in my computer and phone during my work session the next morning.
The second room is the night space, equipped with aking size bed that will prove to be very comfortable, blackout curtains that will allow me to take a nice nap before starting my work day, large closets, and a television set oddly placed on the side of the room. Againeverything looks a bit worn out, and even the decoration seems to be missing.
Finally, the bathroom is well equipped, with bathtub, shower, separate toilet space, and a large washbasin.
I must admit that the room is not really in accordance with the photos, the decoration seems very dated, and I think that I will probably not stay in this hotel anymore.
To finish, here is the virtual visit in video:
Hotel facilities
The hotel is equipped with a fitness room, swimming pool and spa, located on the second floor of the property.
Pool
The hotel hasa large outdoor pool, which is quite nice. Nevertheless, the ambient heat is quite stifling, and does not allow to enjoy the pool properly. The service is more or less attentive, bottles of water are regularly distributed to visitors. However, I will not stay long because of the stifling heat.
Fitness room
The fitness room is not very pleasant, the ventilation is limited, and the equipment is of rather poor quality, and not well maintained.
The elliptical will not work, and the bike is so low on grease that it is totally impractical. I will abandon my session and resume it when I arrive in Bangalore.
Catering
The hotel has several dining properties, not all of which I will obviously try. It also has a Club Lounge, which I have access to as an Ambassador member, and moreover staying in a suite.
Club Lounge
I will access the Club Lounge several times during the day after my short night of rest. The space is huge, very pleasant, and occupies the entire floor of the hotel. At breakfast time, everything is absolutely empty, but it is possible to make a coffee.
At tea time, sweets are available, it is possible to have a coffee with some small cakes to pass the time, especially while waiting for a late flight.
The staff of the lounge it will be variably pleasant, the morning attendant will be very attentive, on the other hand the gentlemen of the afternoon will be much less sympathetic.
Breakfast service
For breakfast service, I head to the buffet restaurant on the second floor of the property. I am quickly taken in charge by the attendant, and settle down at one of the free tables.
It is an integral buffet, drinks and salty and sweet, cold and hot elements. Not being necessarily very hungry after this short night of sleep, I will choose pancakes, which I particularly like when they are made minute. I will not stay long, and will return to work in my suite.
Departure
The departure formalities were simple, andthe invoice will be sent to my e-mail address within minutes of my departure. I will take an Uber to the airport, which will arrive late.
Bottom line
A stay in half-tone. If the property is rather good, the decoration of the rooms is very bland, and the general state of the rooms is deplorable. I will favor one of the other Doha Marriott options on my next stay.
