After a fast passage to the Plaza Premium lounge, I’m off to Paris.
As a reminder, here is the itinerary followed:
Boarding
Boarding takes place from the now familiar A26 gate, located at some distance from the main part of the terminal.
Surprisingly, all the morning flights depart from here: Air France, KLM, Lufthansa and TAP on this Saturday morning… Why not spread them out across the terminal in this time of social distancing?
The SkyPriority queue is empty and I board directly after navigating Heathrow’s complex jetways.
Cabin and welcome
The welcome is rather cold (not even a hello) and the French authorities’ tracing form is handed to me.
I don’t see the point of it at all, since when I had the COVID 3 months earlier and reported it to the airline, they didn’t care and didn’t do the contact tracing job.
With London now switched to A319 iso A318s, I’m welcomed in the Smart & Beyond cabins, much more premium than the ignominious A318 seats, with blocked middle seat and Business class headrests.
There will be 4 rows of Business on this flight, and this class will be fully booked.
Service and catering
You dreamed it, Air France did it. Yes, the airline is still citing the health situation as the reason for not offering any Business class service on all UK destinations.
No valid reason is given, and I really thought that things had returned to normal, 3 months after my last flight on the route… Nothing of the sort.
I’ll mention it to the purser when we disembark (who won’t care).
Arrival and disembarkation
We arrive at terminal 2E about ten minutes behind schedule, due to a landing on the north doublet. I’ll be disembarking first, as I’m in row 1.
Bottom line
What can I say? Pitiful ground service in London, non-existent in-flight service... Nothing to save this flight!
