Review: Singapore Airlines Silverkris lounge in Hong Kong

Flying in business class on Asiana Airlines between Hong-Kong and Seoul I was able to stay a few hours in the Singapore Airlines SilverKris lounge in Hong Kong.

Who has access to it?

All passengers flying business or first on Singapore Airlines, members of the Singapore airlines “Krisflyer” frequent flyer program depending on their status, all members of a Star Alliance frequent flyer program with Star Alliance Gold status, all passengers flying business or first on a Star Alliance airline.

Passengers flying in Star Alliance Business or First or with Star Alliance Gold status also have access to the United Club Lounge, Thai Airways Royal First and Thai Airways Royal Orchid.

Location

The lounge is located right after the police and security checkpoints, and you only have to go down one floor to reach the commercial area.

My Asiana flight left from a nearby gate so I opted for this one.

At the reception desk, my boarding pass is checked and I can access it.

Lounge layout

Once past the reception, a curved corridor leads to the lounge. An inspired arrangement that prevents people from having a view from the outside.

At one point the corridor allows access to an area reserved for first class passengers. This is not for me.

The lounge is blind. Shame.

We are at Singapore Airlines: sober decoration. It doesn’t look brand new but gives the impression of having aged well. Perhaps it is the fact that he is one-eyed that also distorts the judgment.

It is almost empty when I arrive but it will not last.

Nice touch: fairly private workspaces with a design inspired by the airline’s business class seat.

As I watch the lounge gradually fill up I wonder if it’s big enough to handle the rush hour traffic. People will have trouble finding a seat and it will become a little bit noisy.

Maybe because being the first lounge after security is the easy choice?

There is also a dining area where you can sit down and enjoy a meal.

Nothing to say about the toilets: it’s clean and comfortable.

However, it looks a little more worn than the rest of the lounge.

There are also showers.

On the other hand, no treatment is offered, contrary to a growing trend in premium airlines.

Catering offer

There is of course a buffet.

A cold offer where you can find the vital minimum.

Richer hot offer.

And the brochettes and other fritters.

Without talking about great gastronomy, there is enough variety for those who are not fans of Asian cuisine and it has a minimum of taste.

Next to the fridges where you will find water and soft drinks, a real bar where they serve alcohol.

A consistent offer to say the least.

Bottom line : clean and solid

Not much to say about this Singapore Airlines SilverKris lounge in Hong Kong. The food and beverage offer is solid, the lounge comfortable and clean even if it gets a bit crowded at peak times, is blind and can look a bit worn if you are picky.

But I can’t see myself staying there for hours.
