After an hour’s patience in the lounge, it was time for the moment of truth: boarding our first flight with an infant!
We leave the lounge about ten minutes before boarding begins.
Boarding
Unlike European boarding, families with babies do not enjoy priority boarding in the United States, and ConciergeKey members and Group 1 are called. We are part of Group 1, so we proceed with boarding.
Cabin and welcome
The American Airlines Domestic First cabin on mainline aircraft is systematically configured as a 2-2 with comfortable, modern recliners. IFE is not provided by a screen, but by a Wifi streaming system.
We’ll be seated in the front row for this flight, and the stewardess will offer us welcome drinks. I’ll have a Diet Coke.
Boarding ends while our son continues his nap in my wife’s arms.
Service and catering
Service begins just after takeoff, and I’ll order a coffee while my wife has a Ginger Ale. This will be served with premium bagged nuts.
The hostess is very attentive and offers us refills.
The landing goes smoothly and always in silence. Phew !
Arrival and disembarkation
We arrive at the Washington Reagan gate some fifteen minutes ahead of schedule. We made our way to baggage claim, and our cargo was the first to arrive on the conveyor belt, without any damage– excellent!
Bottom line
An excellent flight and a great relief to see our baby ultra-calm on this journey.
