British Airways First Suite, New-York JFK – London Heathrow, Boeing 777-300ER: Excellent experience

After a very long wait in the Chelsea lounge operated by American Airlines and British Airways in Terminal 8 at New York JFK, with a very successful late lunch and lots and lots of work, I boarded the second flight segment of this itinerary to Paris.

Boarding

I left the lounge at the theoretical boarding time. As my flight was the last of the day, it was fairly quiet when I left, and I was less than 2 minutes away from gate 16, from which my evening flight departed.

A few moments after my arrival at the gate and after the call for passengers with reduced mobility, boarding of group 0, of which I was a member, was called and I was the second to board via the biometric gates.

The process was super simple, and boarding of this entire flight was completed in less than 15 minutes.

Cabin and welcome

Upon arrival at the gate, I was greeted by a steward who directed me to the First stewardess who led me to my seat, the 01K at the front of the First cabin.

The welcome was excellent. The flight attendant who will looked after me throughout the flight asked me what beverage I’d like before takeoff, and I took a glass of Laurent Perrier Grand Siècle, which was promptly brought to me.

I was offered pyjamas and changed before takeoff.

The First BA seat is very complete and comfortable. A door separates this seat from the aisle.

A comfortable pillow was placed on the seat, along with a topper to make the seat soft during takeoff and landing.

The wash bag was located with a bottle of still water in one of the seat’s many compartments. It was very complete and I made good use of it.

During taxi, the meal order was taken and I asked for two starters and a dessert with champagne.

Service and catering

Service began a few minutes after take-off.

Dinner service

A new glass of Laurent Perrier Grand Siècle was brought to me, along with a selection of canapés.

The goat’s cheese and zucchini roll was perfect, if a little salty, but the rosemary brought out the flavor.

The shrimp with tomato sauce was be perfectly cooked, and the balance was perfect with the tomato.

The beef with truffle was a little disappointing, clearly overcooked.

Together, these 3 amuse-bouches were the perfect accompaniment to the LPGS.

A few minutes later, after a refill of champagne, the table was elegantly set.

A basket of warm breads was offered, and I opted for a pretzel loaf.

Cream of broccoli was served and was perfect.

IMG_5589

The arancini followed and were crispy and soft. Just perfect.

I was much less enthusiastic about the dessert, an open-faced filled crepe, which was a little nauseating.

IMG_5592

In conclusion, a very good meal, including for First. And above all, perfect service.

Cruise and sleep

I would then ask for my bed to be made up, which would be done immediately. The bed was very comfortable, especially the fluffy comforter, and I slept for 5 uninterrupted hours.

When I woke up, I changed in the bathroom reserved for First passengers.

Breakfast service

For breakfast, I asked for a double espresso and a freshly squeezed orange juice, which were promptly served.

After a holding pattern, we landed at Heathrow and arrived at the gate on time.

Passengers in the Club World cabin were stopped while waiting for First passengers to disembark.

Bottom line

An excellent flight, on which rest was not a compromise to excellent catering. Perfect!
