Delta SkyClub, Newark International: Small, but Well-Appointed

It’s time to head back to Boston, this time on a Saturday morning, a little later than usual.

Check-in and ground experience

I completed the check-in process 24 hours before departure through the Delta app, and received my boarding pass via Passbook.

I left the hotel about 2.5 hours before my flight. After parting with $120 for the ride and a 40-minute journey, I arrived at Terminal A of the airport.

I tried to print a paper boarding pass at the self-service kiosks, but they were out of paper, and I wasn’t keen on waiting in the long line at the check-in counters.

I then proceeded to TSA security, which unfortunately, as has become the norm, had no priority line outside of PreCheck or Clear.

It took me around 10 minutes to pass through TSA.

Location and welcome

The lounge is located on the mezzanine level of Terminal A and can be accessed via stairs or an elevator.

All lounges are located in the same area, with the entrances to the Admirals Club (AA) and the United Club situated nearby.

The welcome was warm, and after verifying my lounge access at the counter, I requested a reprint of my boarding pass, which was promptly done after confirming my identity.

Lounge design

The design of the lounge is quite well done, reflecting the style of Delta’s newer SkyClubs. There are several relaxation areas, though the dining areas, while present, are somewhat limited in size.

I found a seat on one of the comfortable benches.

Catering

During my visit, the breakfast offering was available. The quality was decent, though the variety was somewhat lacking. I limited myself to a few pieces of toast.

Bottom line

A pleasant experience in a friendly atmosphere at this newer lounge.
