To end 2021 on a high note, my wife and I decided to spend the last afternoon of the year at one of our favorite London Afternoon Teas, the Rosbery, the Mandarin Oriental bar located on Knightsbridge and facing Hyde Park.
A look back at this excellent afternoon.
The concept
The concept is simple: it is anafternoon tea of excellent quality, and, during the festive season, with a Christmas twist in the ingredients chosen.
Note that the wine pairing is proposed but also a beer pairing and a sake pairing, more original.
Also, vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options are available for the more sensitive.
The setting
The setting is magnificent, as one would expect in such a prestigious property. The Christmas decoration adds an extra touch of magic.
The menu
The map is quite simple, as you can see below. Teas are included as well as unlimited sandwiches and pastries.
The meal and the dishes
I must say that, as on our last visit, everything was excellent.
Sandwich platter
- Egg and truffle sandwich: Excellent as always, with a taste of too little
- Duck canapés: very well balanced
- Salmon and shrimp with cucumber: very good but very iodized
- Braised beef:A little too acidic
- Goat cheese and caramelized onions: excellent.
Scones
Platter of scones in the shape of a fir tree, clotted cream and marmalade: unfortunately, we had let them cool down, but they were nevertheless excellent. Special mention to the ginger marmalade
Pastries platter
- Chocolate raspberry log:very balanced
- Taco : very good
- Christmas bauble:too sweet
- Chocolate Christmas tree: not really a dessert
- Nutcracker: very sweet
The service
What to say about the service… It was perfectly adapted to the standard of the place, but with sometimes a lack of proactivity.
The atmosphere
Muffled, but sometimes with customers who speak too loudly.
Bottom line
An excellent experience, the second for us in this property. But the finesse of the canapés will make us come back for sure!
