Today’s itinerary

Check-in, ground course and lounge

Since the COVID-19 crisis, British Airways has introduced procedures for uploading travel documents, opening up the possibility of online check-in. I’ll be using this service, VeriFLY, for our return trip to London.

The day before departure, I check-in and we leave for the airport 1h30 before our flight’s departure.

We go straight through security and into to the lounge.

Despite the British Airways logo at the entrance and the fact that this is the lounge listed on the OneWorld website, we were initially turned away.

Fortunately, I use my PriorityPass, which gives me access to the lounge.

The lounge is nothing special, but it’s better than waiting in the departure lounge… I’ll settle for a plate of Spanish charcuterie and a glass of red wine.

Boarding

After a few dozen minutes in the lounge, and 40 minutes before departure, we head for the boarding gate.

Before that, we have to pass through the police checkpoints, which will be done in a matter of seconds.

A priority lane is indeed available, and we are directed to this lane, being in Group 1.

30 minutes before departure, boarding begins and then… It’s a catastrophe! All passengers who have checked-in online using the VeriFLY service are directed to the podium. for a document check… Pathetic! What’s the point of checking documents and uploading them if they’re checked at the gate!

We wait a good 5 minutes, then finally enter the aircraft.

Cabin and welcome

The welcome is warm and cheerful, and we head straight to our seats.

The cabin is the usual British Airways Club Europe, with a table in the middle to extend the living space for Business passengers.

Service and catering

Service begins when the seatbelt light is switched off.

Unlike the outward journey, no aperitif is served before the meal, but a tray with a drink is distributed.

The choices are the same as on the outward journey, and this time I’ll opt for the pasta rather than the mushroom pie.

The stewards are very attentive and bring me several refills of drinks.

Arrival and disembarkation

We arrive safely at Terminal B, and take the automated shuttle to passport control, which is deserted, before joining our transfer.

Bottom line

A very good flight, but ruined by a mediocre ground experience in Valencia.
