While we weren’t able to travel as much as we’d hoped this summer, my wife and I planned a romantic weekend in Valencia, Spain.
As you may have noticed from some of the reviews, we now have a fur ball, so organization isn’t as easy as it used to be!
Nevertheless, here’s the itinerary:
# | Type | Review |
---|---|---|
1 | Lounge | British Airways Club Europe, London Heathrow – Valencia |
2 | Hotel | The Westin Valencia |
3 | Restaurant | Lienzo Valencia |
4 | Restaurant | Tago Mago Valencia |
5 | Beach Club | Valencia Marina Beach Club |
6 | Flight | British Airways Club Europe, Valencia – London Heathrow |
Ground experience and lounge
We arrive at London Heathrow terminal 5 about 2 hours before the departure of our flight.
We go straight to the Fast Track, which gets us airside in under 10 minutes, despite the many wheelchairs slowing down the flow.
We move on to the Galleries South lounge (although the North lounge has just reopened) which is quite full (see my previous review), order a hot dish which will be rather bland and a rather good champagne.
As our flight leaves from gate B and requires a train transfer, we leave the lounge 40 minutes before departure.
Boarding
Boarding begins less than 30 minutes before departure, with passengers in zone 1, including us. But as there’s no priority queue, it’s getting a bit messy… Fortunately, we’re in Pole Position and we’re boarding in the first group.
Cabin and welcome
The Business cabin is large, as always on BA medium-haul flights, with 12 rows on this day. So larger than the economy cabin… Incredible.
The welcome is perfect and the seats comfortable. The middle tables are perfect for sprawling out.
Service and catering
Service starts as soon as the seatbelt sign is switched off.
An aperitif is served first, with the usual warmth. I’ll choose a glass of champagne (this time served from large bottles) and a glass of sparkling water. This aperitif is served with quality, tasty walnuts.
Then comes the meal tray, consisting of a salad, a chicken and mushroom pie (from 3 choices) and an excellent panna cotta. I’ll continue to accompany this with champagne throughout the meal.
Arrival and disembarkation
We arrive in Valencia on time. Disembarkation is fast, but one of the terminal doors remains closed for many minutes, preventing us from accessing immigration and the baggage reclaim area. Immigration will be through in seconds.
Bottom line
Another excellent medium-haul flight on BA, confirming the trend observed in recent months.
