Lufthansa is not short on lounges at its Frankfurt hub, and there are no fewer than three in the A-gate hall alone: a First Class lounge, which we have already mentioned here [METTRE LIEN]A business lounge open to business and Star Alliance Gold passengers and a Senator lounge open to Miles&More Senators and Star Alliance Gold passengers.
It is the latter that we will discuss here.
Location of the lounge.
The lounge is located in the commercial/duty free area of the hall where the “A” gates are located. Depending on where you arrive, it is located just before or just after the other two lounges.
Located in the middle of the terminal, it is therefore at equal distance from all the gates and therefore ideally located. But the size of the terminal makes it a nice walk if your gate is far away!
Lounge layout
As is often the case with Lufthansa, lounge eligibility is checked not inside but outside the lounge.
When you enter, you first come across the desk dedicated to customer service.
Then the lounge itself which is composed of several areas.
First of all, a main part with armchairs, barstools and stools.
An adjoining space with your tables for eating.
Another space equipped with armchairs.
A smoking area…
A more relaxing area, with seats/beds and a more soothing setting where you find the forest decor that is often found in the lounges of the German airline.
For those who don’t want to rest but really sleep there is also a more quiet room with beds.
A real office space where you can really work which we miss so much in the Air France lounges to name but one.
Of course booths to isolate oneself to make a phone call.
And another more cosy space closer to the entrance…
And in the middle of all this a huge buffet area, knowing that other smaller buffets with drinks, cupcakes and sweets are spread throughout the lounge.
In general, this lounge is very pleasant. Although it consists of a single open space, it is cleverly divided into smaller spaces that give the impression of something a little more human sized….even if it’s still really big.
It is both bright and warm with a beautiful parquet floor and large windows overlooking the planes parked in the terminal.
If it can be quite full at rush hour, I never saw the crowd I saw in the business lounge of the same terminal where I had a hard time finding a seat. In these conditions it can be a little noisy but much less than you would expect given its size and capacity.
Finally, the lounge has showers and toilets, which are, as always with Lufthansa, immaculately clean.
The buffet.
My first visit was early so the buffet was in breakfast configuration. A more than consistent offer.
It’s very varied and it’s good.
One of the hallmarks of Lufthansa lounges is the candy!
I also went there again at the end of the day, which allowed me to test the “classic” offer.
When we talk about German food, we can’t say that the names or even the visuals are very attractive, but the least we can say is that it’s really good and that the beef roulade was a real delight, very tasty.
And once again a lot of variety, especially on the hot side.
The offer of drinks is consequent and there is something for all tastes.
Water and softs…
Large choice of bottled and draught beers…normal, we are in Germany. And a nice choice of alcohols.
Surprisingly, the wines hold up well with variety.
Staff and Service
The staff is constantly monitoring the supply of the buffet and everything is quickly cleared away.
Besides that the staff at the desk is really there for the customer service contrary to other airlines where apart from the reception it is difficult to count on them for anything. We had the experience during strikes of the German airline: very great professionalism.
And always very kind.
Bottom line
An excellent lounge with nothing but good qualities.
