Review : Tallinn-Francfort, Lufthansa Business Class, A320 Neo

All good things must come to an end and it’s time to return to Paris via Frankfurt on Lufthansa.

Arrival at the airport

Having done my check-in online I can skip the counters and go straight to the terminal.

Tallinn Airport is what you might call a human-sized airport.

Before entering I spend a few minutes on the sidewalk to enjoy the spectacle of the airplane ball. It’s a pity that the traffic is low and not very varied because it’s an ideal airport for spotters with aircraft passing right over your head before landing.

It’s time to get in….

Contrary to the boarding areas that we have already seen in my post on the outbound flight and which are very nice and friendly, the check-in areas are rather frustrating.

IMG_1253

And here is THE bar of the terminal, at least the only one located “landside”.

IMG_1254

Its terrace is a very good place for spotting enthusiasts as well, with a clear view of the runways and the approach.

The security controls are passed in a few minutes and I can go to the good business lounge of the airport, a real nice surprise!

Then it’s time to board and discover more about the terminal.

Every gate has a different design and, as far as I could see, a different sponsor!

You can play ping pong in the terminal!

IMG_1305

Discover virtual reality experiences that remind us that Estonia, if it is a country very concerned about nature, is certainly the most “digitally” advanced country in Europe and even in the world.

IMG_1301

You can pass the time in the very nice bar…

IMG_1310

…or in a champagne bar.

IMG_1312

A very, very pleasant airport on a human scale.

It’s time to board.

Boarding and settling in the cabin

The staff is gradually being put in place at the gate.

IMG_1314

Again I am impressed with the ground operations of Lufthansa. Since the lounge I saw the aircraft arriving at 12:58 pm, we could board at 1:15 pm for a departure at 1:55 pm.

The boarding goes smoothly and the priorities are respected to the letter.

The traditional medium-haul business cabin of Lufthansa with no less than 4 rows of business on a Sunday morning!

IMG_1315

The central seat is of course neutralized to leave space for the passengers.

IMG_1316

Same remark as usual: the NEK seat chosen by the German airline is a little ” ass banging “ at first but you end up getting used to it and it is finally ” normally comfortable “.

Leather is more comfortable and flattering than fabric, and I love how chic and understated the cabin is in the gray tones.

It is noticeable that unlike other airlines, Lufthansa leaves the curtain separating the business and economy sections open even on the ground and during the landing and takeoff phases, except for the part closing the aisle which is open on these occasions.

Another recurring positive point at Lufthansa: the always generous pitch for the legs.

IMG_1319

The boarding goes without problems and we are ready to leave.

Boarding started at 1:15 pm, finished at 1:38 pm, door closed at 1:32 pm, departure at 1:54 pm. Efficient. Our A320 Neo is full!

The flight and the service on board

We pass quickly above the cloudy layer and the service can begin.

IMG_1321

We are a bit shaken at the beginning of the service but the staff does not give up and continues to work.

Here is the meal of the day.

IMG_1332

I start with the chicken…

IMG_1323

The chicken is correct without more, it misses a little pep. On the other hand, the accompanying sauce is excellent and saves the dish alone.

No red wine because Lufthansa had catering problems in Frankfurt at that time. I’ll settle for a white that will turn out to be very good.

The dessert is very good.

IMG_1324

I notice that contrary to the A320/A321 I already took on Lufthansa, the tray tables of the 1st row are in the armrest and not in the partition in front.

The meal is quickly finished. Until the end of the flight, the staff will come by many times to offer drinks. I will stick to tea.

Arrival in Frankfurt

I enjoy a little bit the “landscape” and the “sharklets” of the Neo.

IMG_1337

We begin our approach and we make the race with a B747 during a “parallel landing”.

IMG_1341
IMG_1344

The terminal is emerging…

IMG_1348

We land and drive towards the terminal, the occasion to make some photos… like this 747-8i

IMG_1349

Once is not customary for a medium-haul aircraft in Frankfurt, we will be parked in contact with the jetway.

Bottom line

An uneventful flight and an always pleasant and warm service from the Lufthansa staff.
