As part of a family visit near the Milan airport, I stayed at theSheraton Milan Malpensa Airport. The hotel is very convenient when arriving from the airport, as it is directly connected to the terminals and the train station through a pedestrian tunnel.
A look back on a very pleasant stay.
Booking
As usual, I proceeded to book the room through the SPG mobile app, using my business’ corporate code.
At the time of booking, in the standard category, only rooms with two single beds were available. So I initially booked a superior room to guarantee the availability of a double or king bed.
Given the location of the hotel, I imagine that the single rooms are taken by storm by the crews of airlines landing at Malpensa.
Arrival
I arrived at the hotel shortly before 10am. Despite my early arrival, the front desk staff found me a Club room available immediately, and that’s the most important thing.
Nevertheless, I feel a bit of panic in the reception staff and it’s quite normal:all their computer system is down and they can’t check anyone in… But seeing my status, the receptionist entrusts me with the master of the room while waiting for the normal return of the operations… That’ s professional: a platinum member is not going to run away with the master!
Quickly, I can access my Club room (upgraded by two categories) with a view on the mountain.
Room
The room was located on the 4th and top floor of the property, very close to the elevators. This is important because the noise will be present all evening.
For a club room, it is quite spacious, almost the size of a junior suite.
On the floor, parquet flooring equips the entire room, excluding the bathroom of course.
When you enter the room, you come to the entrance and then directly to the bathroom. This one is spacious, but not huge, and is equipped with a shower and not a bath (I prefer, personally, even if I also prefer to have the choice…). As it is usual in Italy, a bidet is present. The toilets are not separated.
The bed is large and well-made, with the usual Sheraton Sweet Sleeper bedding.
A sofa also equips the room, and allows you to enjoy the beautiful view of the mountains with windows that go from floor to ceiling.
To finish, a visit in video of this very pleasant room:
Hotel facilities
Although dating back to the 1980s in its design, the hotel benefits from very efficient maintenance and has been recently renovated throughout, unlike its counterpart in Paris Charles-de-Gaulle.
Lobby
Thehotel lobby is particularly spacious and pleasant, with high ceilings. The decoration is very nice and the dark tones allow to create a cosy atmosphere
Fitness room and swimming pool
On the second floor of the property, a swimming pool and spa are available, as well as a gym, very pleasant spaces. While the pool is modest in size, its long shape allows for swimming and relaxing after a grueling day.
Catering – Club Lounge
I did not test the hotel’s restaurants, neither at lunch, nor at dinner, nor at breakfast.
On the other hand, as an SPG Platinum member, I have access to the Club Lounge and enjoyed two breakfast and drink services throughout the day (I was absent during happy hour).
The club is pleasant, open to the common areas of the hotel and accessible with the room key. It has beautiful buffets and tables for dining, as well as more cozy lounging areas.
The breakfast buffet is available daily from 6:30 am to 11 am, and offers a varied and rather qualitative continental offer, and hard-boiled eggs and bacon as hot items. Note that it is not possible to order eggs on demand, and that manygluten-free items are available for intolerant people.
Departure
The departure formalities were simple and completed in less than 30 seconds.
Bottom line
A solid airport hotel with a good level of service and value for money. What more could one ask for?
