Lisbon express breaks

Barely back from Porto, it’s time for me to take to the skies and Portugal again, but this time to Lisbon for a very, very short stay without much tourist appeal.

I absolutely had to see Laura Laune’s new show, my favorite humorist, and she was sold out in France for over a year. Not being very good at being patient, I saw that there were still a few seats left in Lisbon a few weeks later, so I rushed to book them (there were also some left in Papeete, and later she added dates in the USA, but that was a bit far for a show…).

Choice of destination

It was more the destination that chose me than the other way around, as I based my choice on the cities where there were still seats available for the show.

The trip wasn’t really about sightseeing, although I did take the opportunity to go for a long walk, but the only site I really wanted to see was on strike.

Transportation

As for the plane, I won’t be making any unnecessary detours and will be flying Air France business class (ticket paid for in miles), just to confirm the good impression left by my flights to and from Porto a few weeks earlier.

Hotels

Given the staggering prices in Lisbon, I decided to be efficient. As is often the case from now on, I booked at the Moxy City Center, the only good value Marriott hotel in the Portuguese capital, with this time the surprise of an upgrade to a very nice room, certainly the best in the hotel.

At Roissy I’ll be staying at the Moxy again. I was going to say to myself that I wouldn’t do a review this time as I’ve already written a ton of them, but as once again everything went wrong I wanted to tell you about it.

Restaurants

I’ll only be spending two evenings there. The first I’ll be coming home late from the show and grabbing a snack at the hotel, and the second I’ll be dining at Epur, a Michelin-starred restaurant I spotted on a recent trip.

Bottom line

All this leads to the following articles to come.
