Mexico, Mexiiiiiiiiiico, under the singing sun…!

An abstruse title, you might say… Well, I’m not going to change. So you’re going to be treated to a little introductory article about a trip to Mexico, planned at the last minute, with friends.

And not to discover Mexico, but to relax on the Caribbean beaches of Cancun.

Well, as you can imagine, at TravelGuys we don’t make last-minute plans…

However, as the sanitary measures have not been lifted in the United States, our trip to New York is cancelled and we fall back on a country with limited border sanitary measures: Mexico.

Flights

I quickly found an excellent route operated by Air Europa and Aeromexico.

Not because I’m running for XP with Flying Blue, but it’s the cheapest in Business by far…

Only problem, a departure from Gatwick and 2 transfers. But at £1300 per AR compared to a minimum £4,000 for all the others, it was a no-brainer…

Hotels

As for the hotels, I hesitated for a long time between the Four Points by Sheraton, the Ritz-Carlton and the JW Marriott.

In the end, I’ll be staying at the JW Marriott for 4 nights.

Before I arrive, I’ll be upgraded to a JW Suite, all rooms having a sea view.

Routes and attractions

Not much in terms of rides or attractions.

A few recommendations nonetheless:

  • Taking a cab is a pain, and being a tourist means you’ll have to pay sky-high prices. Use Uber, sitting in front (to avoid putting the driver at risk from the powerful cab lobby).
  • Book your airport transfer through your hotel: it’s more expensive than a cab, but at least it’s the final price.

Final itinerary

In the end, here’s the itinerary:
