Today’s itinerary

Boarding

Boarding begins about ten minutes late, due to the late arrival of the crew which came from another flight.

No priorities this time, boarding passes are scanned without any further verification. No doubt this means that passage through the counters is compulsory, regardless of the departure airport.

No boarding pass check at the gate

As I feared, no priority means bus, and we wait in 30-degree weather for ten minutes for all the passengers to board. We walk less than 100 m on the tarmac before arriving at the foot of the plane. I’m one of the first on board.

Cabin and welcome

The welcome is courteous and I don’t have far to go to board, since I’m installed in 01D.

The adjoining seat is blocked in the regional cabins of the Polish airline

Immediately, the purser suggests I put my jacket in the checkroom, which I accept this time.

The taxi will be a little long, despite light traffic.

Service and catering

Service begins once the signal light has gone out, and I’m served a vodka tonic and pretzels.

The aperitif served on board, which I originally thought was the only thing served on this flight.

I tell myself it’s frugal, but it’s a 1-hour flight and much better than some European airlines.

A very decent set for a flight of less than an hour

But in the middle of my drink, the flight attendant arrives with a small tray! A pleasant surprise!

Honestly, the service is very honest and refills will be offered several times.

Arrival and disembarkation

We reach the terminal in Budapest, at the jetbridge. Nevertheless, in order to control all passengers, we take a staircase and board a bus that takes all passengers from the Schengen area to the same arrival terminal.

Arriving in Budapest with a Dutch neighbor

The whole process is excellently organized, with no waiting, arrival documents are double-checked and photographed, and wristbands confirming non-infection with COVID-19 are distributed by UEFA. The whole thing takes just 2 minutes.

Bottom line

A great flight, with excellent service and a great ground experience, what more could you ask for?
