After a disappointing flight in First Class on Lufthansa with my wife, we are waited at the gate by a ground agent who will assist us for our connection to Phuket.
Since we were checked-in from end to end to Phuket even though we were on two separate tickets, our luggage is interlined and we already have our boarding passes. Thus, we proceed directly to the immigration formalities in Bangkok, but we are given a sticker because the customs clearance will take place in Phuket. Good concept!

Location
Our escort accompanies us to the Thai Royal Silk Lounge dedicated to domestic flights.
This lounge is located near gate A, and it will take you a good ten minutes to get to gate B, especially since a security check will have to be passed before reaching this boarding area.
Lounge design
The design of the lounge is rather uninspired, and this contrasts with the airline’s lounges located in the international area.
The reception is however perfect, and after having scanned our boarding passes, we take leave of our hostess who was perfect during all this long trip in the transit zone.
In this period of Coronavirus, she apologizes for wearing a mask, but it is quite understandable in this broth that is BKK.
The lounge consists of a first relaxation area with colorful armchairs, and this is also where the full buffet is located.
After an unappealing hallway near the amenities, there is an area called “Garden”, which is actually an extension of the lounge in case of high occupancy, which is actually in the terminal, separated by a glass window.
The airport’s air conditioning being what it is, it’s really not the most pleasant place to wait several hours.
The whole thing is a bit dated, but does the job to wait a few hours in peace.
Catering
The food offer is nevertheless very decent, far above European lounges, with some puff pastries, hot dishes, some pastries and fresh fruits to die for. But after a flight in First Class, the appetite remains limited.
Bottom line
A lounge with a rather average design, but which does the job for a domestic flight.
