Review : Lufthansa Economy, Brussels-Frankfurt, Airbus A319-100

After a night at the Sheraton Brussels Airport, I wake up at dawn, around 5:15 am, to take my flight back to Paris via Frankfurt, this time on Lufthansa.

Ground experience

Being already checked-in since the day before for my return flight, I pass in front of the LH Group counters without stopping towards the security controls.

To pass through these controls, you have to show your boarding pass no less than 3 times: one to pass through the first common gate, a gate dedicated to Fast Track, and then an attendant who re-scans the boarding pass for some reason.

But at least it’s a real fast track since I pass airside in less than 3 minutes.

Like most modern airports, Brussels-Capital imposes the passage in a IKEA-style duty free.

Lounge

Like all Star Alliance airlines in Brussels, Lufthansa uses The Loft by Brussels Airlines lounge, located on the mezzanine of Terminal A.

After a warm welcome by the attendants, I am invited to enter the lounge.

Note that an area is reserved for First and HON Circle passengers.

The lounge is very large and has various seating and dining areas.

The attendance of the lounge is very low at this early hour

The decoration is different according to the different buffets, making the space much less impersonal

The sanitary facilities and the spa are also present and of very good quality.

The catering seems to be of good quality, with a busy salad bar, hot and cold breakfast offerings.

Hot and cold drinks are available at all hours. Let us note not less than 4 different beers proposed on draught, as it is the custom in Belgium.

At the scheduled boarding time, I head for the gate that is located just below the lounge.

Boarding

The boarding starts with a good 10 minutes delay to Frankfurt.

The priorities are respected, but we still have to wait a good 5 minutes after the boarding pass control before entering the jetway.

Cabin and reception

The welcome is friendly despite the early departure, and I take a seat in 04C, first row of the economy class.

I wouldn’t have a neighbor in the middle.

Service and catering

Lufthansa has been suffering from chronic catering problems due to a dispute with its subcontractor since this summer. As a result, cookies were distributed at the gate, and only beverage service was provided by trolley.
