Lufthansa Senator lounge in Frankfurt (Door A)

As soon as I disembarked from my flight from Paris, I went to the Senator lounge. This lounge is not a novelty since we have often visited it and detailed it here. The interest of this visit is that it is an opportunity to find it in a normal mode of operation after having been closed or open but without service during the pandemic. My last visit, one year earlier, coming from Gothenburg and before leaving for Paris, did not leave me a lasting memory, to say the least.

It is therefore with pleasure that I note the return of a more or less normal service. The offer is still not as rich as before but it is better than nothing.

I wait quietly for the time to pass before going to the boarding gate.

Boarding

As I walk towards the door, I say to myself that it is a pleasure to see this airport alive again after having known it in the middle of the pandemic (note that it was at that time much less gloomy than Roissy).

IMG_4172

My flight is well announced and a glance outside allows me to see a flock of Lufthansa waiting for their passengers.

IMG_4174
IMG_4175

Unfortunately, another look behind the counter lets me guess that we will be boarding by bus.

IMG_4176

And that’s what will happen. Ireally don’t understand the systematic use of buses in Frankfurt.

However, we will board on time and respect the boarding priorities.

IMG_4177

The device is not far away, in “false contact” on a non-Schengen door.

IMG_4178

Here is our A320 of the day.

IMG_4179

Who says boarding by bus says boarding in the mess and jams in the aisle but I finally reach my seat.

IMG_4180

The cabin of the Lufthansa A320

I find there the good old NEK seat alias “the ironing board”. Quite well made and not as uncomfortable as its thickness suggests, it gives the impression of having flown a few hours. It is not long before being replaced by a new model more comfortable (and prettier for my taste) theGeven Essenza that I have already tested on Austrian.

IMG_4181

On the other hand, the legroom is still appreciable.

IMG_4187

Not much more to say on the subject, it’s time to fly.

The flight and the service

The business cabin will be 3/4 full for this flight: 3 rows, 8 passengers.

Goodbye Frankfurt!

IMG_4184

Soon the sun comes out. Shyly, but better than nothing.

IMG_4188

The service starts quickly and as in my previous experience we are given a menu with the description of the dishes which I am not sure existed before the COVID…

The service is done with trays, always more pleasant than with a cart.

IMG_4191
Visually it looks like this. It’s almost beautiful, rare on medium haul.
IMG_4189

The bread and the croissant are warmand obviously at Lufthansa they know how to heat the croissants better than some of their competitors: rubber effect avoided.

The berry yogurtis excellent.

As for the “dish” I would find the meat too smoky. For the rest it is fresh and tasty. I appreciate it, which was not to be taken for granted at the beginning, considering my severity with regard to breakfast platters… In any case, it’s more original than the traditional cheese and cold cuts combo.

IMG_4190

The rest of the flight will go smoothly with several re-serves of drinks.

Once is not customary, the more we approach Sweden the more the sky clears.

I have time to watch a few episodes of my current show on my iPad before we announce the descent.

Landing and arrival in Gothenburg

To my great surprise, the weather is good at my destination and it must be the first time that I land in Gothenburg under such a beautiful blue sky.

IMG_4197

The new part of the airport is now in service…

IMG_4198

It looks a little less old-fashioned than the rest…

IMG_4199

Disembarkation without problem and head for the baggage room, which is quite old-fashioned…

IMG_4200

It will take me25 minutes to get my luggage. It was like being at Roissy airport and it tarnished the disembarkation experience a bit.

IMG_4201

On the other hand my Uber will not make me wait and it is under a radiant sun that I go towards the city center to meet friends at whose place I will spend the evening. And yes, for once, no hotel.

IMG_4202

The Crew

Totally Lufthansa: efficient, serious and even friendly. And again, plenty of beverage service rather than hiding in the galley once the trays have been distributed.

Bottom line

Uneventful flight and very good service, especially for a breakfast. It is a pity that we embarked by bus that the luggage was so late to be delivered.
