Review : Lufthansa Business, Frankfurt-Tallinn, A320 Neo

Continuation of my trip to Tallinn. After a disembarkation by bus (once again) which naturally makes lose time I must thus cross all the airport to go to take my connection. I am always impressed to see how Lufthansa manages to keep such short connections in its Frankfurt hub. The downside is that when a flight is a little late and you don’t leave from the same part of the terminal, it can be sporting!

Ground experience

The passage from terminal A to B requires a little exercise…taking elevators in front of which the queue encourages you to take the stairs with your suitcase in hand if your connection is a little short, sprinting along an interminable tunnel…

IMG_0720

…. take an elevator just as crowded as the first one to go up (or prefer the stairs)…

IMG_0721

To finally get to your destination.

The “B” gates are divided into a Schengen zone and a non-Schengen zone. Considering the length of the queue at passport control I’m happy to stay in Schengen!

IMG_0724

Well, it can be scary, but my experience in Frankfurt is that it usually goes by very quickly.

I continue my way at a sprint…. to realize that 20m further on there are also other passport control booths totally ignored by the passengers who jump on the first one they see.

And so I end up arriving at the gate. The boarding is close and everyone is waiting patiently.

Boarding

It starts right on time and, once again, we have a boarding by bus (frankly I begin to have enough of it). There is an elevator to go down to the taxiway level…which doesn’t work! So here we are, everyone with their suitcases on the stairs with 3 floors to go down. The families appreciated it.

So I end up arriving at the bottom of the aircraft and take my seat.

The cabin

No surprise with this good old Lufthansa medium-haul seat that we have talked about many times here. A little too “slim” and hard for my taste but you get used to it. On the other hand always sober and premium in appearance.

Same seat as in economy class, but of course the central seat is neutralized in business. And the legroom is impressive.

While Lufthansa does not offer a “real” medium-haul business (but no other airline in Europe except Turkish does), it does offer real comfort for business passengers of 1m90 and more!

Two buses have already brought the passengers, a third one drops off the last latecomers at 9.50 am and we close the doors at 9.53 am.

Always impressed by the way Lufthansa manages to handle problematic boardings.

In short, we are ready to go.

The flight and the service

Nothing to tell about the takeoff, which is as normal as possible. We quickly pierce the cloudy layer.

IMG_0741

The service starts very quickly (10:20 to be precise). I’m quite impatient knowing that I skipped my Paris-Frankfurt meal, not because it wasn’t good or appetizing, but simply because for once I came across things that I can’t swallow.

The service is done by tray and not by trolley.

And then….exactly the same tray as in the morning.

IMG_0742

This is not my day! In short, for me it will be bread and cheese, accompanied by a lemon tea.

Unlike my previous flight, the tea is served in a mug, not in a paper cup.

IMG_0744

Unusual at Lufthansa: no second beverage service. They clear and disappear. Staff always so friendly but a little absent this time.

Well… I quietly finish the flight by watching a movie. (Bary Lyndon for the curious).

IMG_0745

With the space available for the legs this flight is really very comfortable.

In the cabin everyone seems to have their eyes riveted on a screen.

The Estonian countryside unveils itself little by little.

IMG_0749
IMG_0752

We land and considering the size of the airport we will have very little taxi to make to join the terminal.

No large aircraft here…

Disembarkation

We go out of the device to find ourselves in the terminal. Small airport maybe but very well designed and pleasant at first sight. We’ll talk more about this in my review of the flight home.

IMG_0756

You can play ping pong while waiting for your flight…

IMG_0757

There are spaces for children…

IMG_0759
IMG_0761

Lots of social spaces and it seems to me that each door has its own design, its own decor.

IMG_0763

I cross the baggage collection area and get “landside”. Estonia is known to be a very digitalized country…it shows in the marketing of the destination…

IMG_0766

Before leaving the airport I pass by the toilets, impeccable.

Amusing instructions for redoing your tie when you wash your hands.

IMG_0768

And as I turned around, on the door,

IMG_0769

At least you can now say zipper in Estonian.

A lot of humor! I think I will like Estonia.

Everything is clearly indicated to go downtown!

IMG_0767

For your information, Bolt VTCs are much cheaper than cabs (you won’t find Uber here because that’s where Bolt was founded).

Soon the next part of the journey

Bottom line

A very comfortable flight but tarnished by a bus boarding, a meal not to my taste and a staff more absent than usual although very pleasant.

As a reminder, the routing :
