Review : Lufthansa Senator Lounge, Berlin Tegel

After this short stay in the German capital, I join the airport of Berlin Tegel is out of breath because of the delay of Brandenburg (9 years, broken record!).

Before my flight to Frankfurt and then Paris, I decide to go to the lounge for a short while.

Location

The Senator lounge at Berlin Airport is located landside, i.e. before the security checks, like all the other lounges at the airport.

Indeed, the sixties architecture does not allow for a centralized screening station.

The lounge is therefore located on the mezzanine of the check-in counters and is accessible by elevator.

Once on the right floor, the Business lounge is located on the left, and the Senator lounge on the right.

Welcome home 🙂

Lounge design

The lounge is decorated with the old Lufthansa lounge identity. Nevertheless, many spaces are available: club chairs, normal tables and high tables.

Spaces for eating and, to a lesser extent, working
Some high tables for short waits
The German press is available at the entrance
And as in all Lufthansa lounges, real working areas are available

Some spaces even have a view of the tarmac.

A part of the lounge has a view on the interior of the terminal, decorated for Christmas when I was there

Catering

The food and beverage offer is similar to that of the other Senator lounges in Germany: cold food is served alongside hot food, with scrambled eggs, sausages and bacon for breakfast.

The scrambled eggs are quite appetizing
White beans with tomato and grilled mushrooms
The cold offer is diverse and of good quality
The haribos we love

Hot, cold and alcoholic beverages are available at all hours.

The coffee machine is in peak hour
Fresh drinks and some cereals
The wines are already in place in the early morning

Everything is very qualitative and very well kept by the service staff.

Bottom line

A pleasant place to wait with quality catering, but clearly not a place to spend hours waiting, or else with a sustained alternative activity.

On the other hand, I would like to point out that you have to leave the lounge a good 25 minutes before the scheduled boarding time, because you will still have a security check to go through and all Lufthansa and Swiss flights are concentrated at the same gates. Several passengers were trapped and arrived after their flight had finished boarding due to these checks.
