A recent trip to Brussels gave me the opportunity to test The Dominican, a Design Hotel that is a useful boost to the presence of the SPG loyalty program in the Belgian capital, which has been reduced since the Sheraton disappeared.
Two steps from the Grand-Place
The Dominican is very well located, a stone’s throw from the Grand-Place of Brussels, in a pedestrian street and 5 minutes from the metro.
The Dominican : more than a name, an atmosphere
If the place has nothing to do with a cloister, as soon as you enter, you can see that the atmosphere has been very well studied: furniture, decoration, olfactory and sound ambience on a background of Gregorian chants.
Everything is coherent and gives personality to the property from the start.
The check-in is efficient and very friendly. I go to take possession of my Deluxe Room.
Deluxe Room at The Dominican Bruxelles
The room is nicely decorated and is a decent size for a standard room.
The office area overlooks the building’s inner courtyard where the hotel’s very pleasant bar terrace is located.
A small bench to settle in:
It is warm and the impression is very good.
The hotel has its own toiletries. Very pleasant by the way.
The bathroom is of normal size for this kind of room. Not too small nor too big but very well decorated.
In video :
This was a very quick stay and I will, to my regret, not have time to linger at the bar or try the restaurant.
A picturesque fitness room
But I won’t leave the hotel the next day without my morning workout.
Malheureusement la salle n’ouvre qu’à 7h du matin ce qui est vraiment regrettable.
The room is very original in its equipment and decoration.
On the other hand it has a sauna.
In short, all this is small, pretty, cosy, but not really effective.
The check-out will be carried out without problem with a personnel still as courteous.
The Dominican is a very good hotel with a strong personality. I recommend it without reservation unless your morning workout is crucial to you.
