For my stay in Newark this time, I chose to stay at an airport hotel, where I would also be holding my meeting.
Booking
I booked this property about a month before my arrival.
In order to finalize my Marriott Ambassador status for 2025, I booked five nights instead of one, planning to rely on the option of using mobile check-out when the time came.
Arrival
I arrived at the hotel in the late morning after a long wait at the shuttle pick-up point — nearly 45 minutes.
Check-in was quick. No upgrade, which is standard in the U.S., but the welcome was courteous.
The lobby has been recently renovated, but the limited ceiling height gives away the age of the building.
The hotel corridors leading to the rooms, meanwhile, are fitted with carpeting that has clearly seen better days.
Room
My room was located on the top floor of the property.
The entrance opens onto a bathroom equipped with a sink, toilet, and a very dated shower/tub combo. The toiletries are by Aveda.
Next comes the bedroom itself, with a queen-size bed featuring very average bedding, facing a desk on which a television is placed. Near the window, there is also a sofa and a rather odd coffee table. The view is depressing.
The whole room is decorated in an outdated and not particularly pleasant style.
To conclude, here is the video tour:
Hotel Amenities
The hotel has a fitness room located on the ground floor. It is fairly large, adequately equipped, and I made use of it during the two days of my stay. That said, the equipment is starting to show its age and would deserve to be renewed.
Food & Beverage
At this property, dining is provided by a bar/restaurant located near the reception desk. A Club Lounge, also located near reception, is available for Marriott Bonvoy Elite members.
Club Lounge
The club is located opposite the reception area. Although it is open 24 hours a day, service is only provided during breakfast hours and at happy hour in the late afternoon.
The space, which has recently been renovated, is pleasant.
The food offering, however, is extremely limited.
Bar
On the evening of my stay, I had a drink and dinner at the hotel bar.
The service was courteous without being exceptional, and I had fish and chips that were just about edible, along with a rather stingily poured whisky. We won’t be back.
Service
Service at this property is ultra-minimal.
Departure
Check-out formalities were extremely simple, as they were completed a few days after my actual departure through the Marriott Bonvoy app.
Bottom line
A stay of no real interest. I would not come back. We won’t be back.
